I want to make a vortex BBMG but i am a complete noob as to go about making one. I get the general idea its a chamber with a barrel and an air source which pressurizes and sucks the bbs out the barrel right? Well anyway i was wondering if i could use PVC as an air source tank and compressed air from a bike pump as the source. Please explain how to construct a vortex

Looks who's back.

The diagram you have supplied shows a cloud, not a vortex. Which principle do you want?

And for the part about the PVC chamber, people have tried using it, it wont last long though. A few seconds probably.

And by 'M50' do you mean .5" caliber? That would wear down a vortex block pretty quick.

Read the SpudWiki on Vortex and Clouds.

Oh and...
Please explain how to construct a vortex
No. Please do some research. (Me telling you how to build a vortex is about as likely as you doing research).

not to mention .5 calibre would require a HUGE air source (along with the vortex block), because of the pure size that everything would have to be.

rastamuffin, face it. Without doing research you are going to be stuck wondering 'how ever that works' for everything on this website. In the end you'll get sick of it and end up attaching an air source to a PVC pipe with end cap and barrel, fill the thing with BB's and pray that it works.

You will soon find out surprisingly it does work, but you have no idea why because you don't know what you are doing. What you would've just built is called a cloud. Congrats.

Fine how about a flamethrower..It would look cool and be sweet with a double tank back pack...would i make the cloud just out of a PVC chamber air source comin throught the bottom and a barrel out the side like this?

But Would 2 PVC tanks at 80 psi not be enough to use the gun for about 3 min of constant fire?

Good, you read the wiki. Read it again, you seem to have a very limited knowledge. Also look at the showcase section for clouds/vortex BBMG's.

Uh...that's exactly the same design as the first one.

Maybe...

Is my piece of string long enough to circumnavigate the world?

lol MrCorwley is a decent person, he helps people with specific questions. By no means are we the type of people that just respond to any question with www.google.com. but we are the type of people who dont spoon feed either.

As far as the string comment.. he is pointing out that you didnt say what size of pipe or how long the pipes are for your tanks. he is giving just as much info with his question as you are with your question.

A cloud is not the same thing as a vortex.

If you can't find an answer on that then ask.. but don't ask questions that are already answered on a very easy to get to source.

Edit by MrC: Hmm I wonder who this is Rolling Eyes
I'll leave the topic unlocked for now, this could be interesting.
HAHAHAHA I cant stop laughing. This is too funny.

Rastamuffin: First you must tell us the chamber size like Mr.C said and then The cloud chambers size if you're making a cloud. Please specify on a vortex or a cloud.

Maybe he means modeled off an M50, not actually a .5" cal. If your doing a .5" cal then you would basically be using paintball guns.

For actual paintball/bb/airsoft use I'd recommend looking at neospud's guns. They were specifically designed for that purpose.

http://neospud.com/mark3/mark3.html
http://neospud.com/mark2/mark2.html
http://neospud.com/cannonpages/clearbbmg.html
http://neospud.com/cannonpages/inlinevortex.html

Pick any of them (or all) to read. You could adapt any of those designs to suit your purpose. Keep in mind that while his are for scenario use they require an expensive regulated CO2 setup.

Btw, Mr Crowley isn't someone you want to pick shit with

WTF are you talking about a flamethrower I can't even see the slightest connection between a cloud and a flamethrower.

Your welcome here just like everybody else but you need to get your act together. Stop insulting people and search before you post.

if you can't either read or just go out and try stuff, there is no hope for him in this hobby. the whole thing is about seeing what works for you. i lay in bed or in class thinking or something new and trying to figure out how it will work. that is the point of the hobby imho. if he is not capable to type several words and use a mouse to scroll, then let him fail..

Alright. I have been researching this all night, into the wee hours, and I think I have it pretty much figured out. The block itself sits at the front of the tube, in the center, correct? And there's space on the sides? I ask because, while you may learn from failures, failures cost money... I drew up a little diagram, and if it looks right let me know so I can get to work, but if something needs to be changed please tell me!

Are you rastamuffin by any chance....

And if you dont have money, then improvise.

You pretty much have it, although the paint diagram could be a little neater.
Edit: you also need space to load bb's (good luck loading 3000 bb's against a spring through the muzzle).

If it is rastamuffin, might I just suggest an IP ban.. (I doubt rastamuffin is even smart enough to use a proxy.)
