You can visit one of our benevolent sponsors for a very good deal on a ready modded valve :)

Most types can be used for spudguns purposes, head down to your local hardware/gardening supplies store and find out which models are available, you'll get an answer from the forum ;)

There are other options, you could make a piston valve which is a bit more involved, or even use a simple ball valve which can be spring loaded for better opening time and accuracy. It depends what sort of launcher you're looking to make. If it's small calibre, even using a blowgun directly can work.

It's important that you understand the operating principles, this will then allow you to transfer the designs to the construction techniques and materials available to you.

im going to make mine a single shot rifle and to hold just up to 150 - 170 psi . you think the blowgun valve will hold up? cause if so it would make my life much easier :)

In terms of pressure, it will hold, but what barrel will you be using? If it's airsoft/airgun pellets and you're using a long barrel then a blowgun will be just fine, but if you're planning on firing larger projectiles - golfballs, marbles etc. - you'll need something better.

The Question is whether the sprinkler valve will hold up...Your average sprinkler valve isn't usually taken much past 120psi.

yup long barrel. i did check and apparently i can use a garden hose gun as it can withstand the pressure from the air chamber of 160psi :) im thinking of small darts or pellets :) now all i need is to make a bolt loading system for the ammo :)
