Hey all- want to make a o-ring detent for my unregged CO2 BBMG. only problem is, I can't really get 1/8" o-rings easily. So i was thinking of putting a hole in some rubber gasket sheeting and putting that in the gun to function as a detent, would that work? Thanks

What I did to make an o-ring seal, probably like what you're trying to do is screw a bushing into either side of a union, with the o-ring and a spacer in the middle of the two bushings. You can polish the spacer and the bushing the o-ring is against to make it seal. So far I haven't had a problem.

I wouldn't use gasket material, but that's me.

By gasket i meant just rubber sheeting, but it might not work, which is why i'm asking. O-rings are just hard to find around me.

Why don't you use POLAND's rubber washer sandwich method?

I don't believe there is. I think he just brought it up a few times in various threads. You can construct one using various methods... can you give me and idea of the sort of chamber you are planning and I can give you an idea for how to set one up? I awas actually looking into making one recently.

Yea its just a BBMG, the detent assembly would go on the barrel right after the vortex block. I think I know how I'm going to do it now, could post a picture of it later... too lazy to now.

I don't think you should use the detent on a vortex. A cloud would be better.

no, that's not true. that doesn't matter, a detent functions in the barrel. as long as bb's get fed in, it works. The type of feed mechanism doesn't matter.

vortex's are generally better as they are more air efficient.

There's a high-speed video somewhere on the site of a clear cloud firing, and the poor efficiency is very apparent.

Yea, sort of the point of a detent is to make a BBMG more efficient, in terms of power/shot.

It's in the Wikitoo ;)

POLANS_SPUD's "valveless" launcher ishere.

As to to original question, yes it should work, provided the hole is cut well, I would recommend the sharpened tube method (without cutting your fingers ;))

The only problem is that it wouldn't be adjustable, unless you could take it apart, start with a small hole, and make it progressively larger until you get the desired pop-off pressure.
