First of all welcome to the forums, secondly please read the rules and refrain from talking about shooting people with any guns you may build.

We all understand it is an airsoft gun, but it is a forum rule to not discuss shooting people with any build you may produce. It helps to cover your arse, as well as PCGUY's, because it wouldn't look good if someone came across this website and found a bunch of discussions about shooting people.

Not trying to be a you-know-what, just trying to help out.

Welcome to the forums!

I thought the rules specifically mentioned an exception for paintball and airsoft. Also, as I mentioned in my previous post, I do not understand how this bolt action design would allow you to retain pressure in the barrel. Can some one help clarify?

"Discussion of shooting anything at any person and/or animal is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account.

The exception to this rule is for proper use of legal airsoft and/or paintball markers." Rule number two. However, this may not be on your side, Xenophile. It must be a legal airsoft or paintball marker.

EDIT: Wait, someone read the rules!? :o It seems that fewer people read the rules anywhere. Most people I come across on a daily basis have no regard for rules. This includes many adults over 30 as well.

I believe these comments were directed at the thread starter, not to your question.
Xenophile wrote:I am very interested in the bolt action design pictured in the diagram posted by jackssmirkingrevenge but I do not understand how the system would allow you to pull on the bolt if it is sealed inside the barrel.
That was just a concept drawing, attached a helpful diagram of how it could look in practice.
If the bolt had part of it out side the barrel, then how would the barrel be able to hold pressure. Could someone please clarify?
O-rings, of course. again, clarified in the diagram :D

:D

Do you have any nice lathe projects going on?

I'm bored to death because of the lack of heavy machinery and tools.

LOL, good one!

In retrospect, air and o-rings should have been Image and Image respectively :D

I've made a few prototypes these past weeks, been playing around with synthetics as well...

Ah! Of course, O-rings. Thank you for the clarification. I think I may attempt this design.
