What's better and more consistent than a vortex block?

I have been wanting to make a airsoft BBMG for a very long time, but the one thing that always stopped me is I don't like the somewhat inconsistent rate that Vortex blocks seem to deliver. Yes they shoot blazingly fast, but also somewhat sporadic, the BB's don't come out at an even rate.

I've heard of designs before that actually just used a long piece of tubing for the ammo feed, that the BB's sit in one by one, so that when you fire the BBMG the BBs get fed at a consistent (and still blazingly fast) rate.

However I've searched many times throughout the years and never found any good build guides of this seemingly simple design.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or suggest any other designs that can shoot as fast as a vortex block but with better consistency in speed.

Many of us are on the same quest as you, my friend. Unfortunately, no perfect concept has been thought of yet. Blow forward bolts work, but sometimes they don't even feed perfectly, and they are hard to build. Detents are strong, and somewhat consistent, but they don't feed perfectly. Clouds=crap. Vortexes > clouds, but still crap. Pop off + QEV combos are good but even then you need a good loading mech. JSR will tell you tee mags work... Many people have different opinions, but you never see any new ideas implemented. Airsoft guns aren't the most popular type of launcher here and most of them are clouds/vortexes. I suggest you do some research and think about what type of system will suit you best... Or maybe think of a new type and give it a shot. Hope this helped a little.

I know this system has been done before heres a great example

Notice how consistent the rate of fire is. It does have a hiccup here and there, but for the most part it seems like one of the best I've seen. He's using this tube fed method, however when you go on his site to look at the so called "tutorials", they are severely lacking in information. A few pictures, but with all sorts of important details missing.

I'd really like to build a gun based off of this firing method, but just haven't been able to find enough details yet to do so.

Have you two forgotten about this?

Type in "ultimate inline mark 2" on youtube for videos. It's PERFECT for what you both want to achieve.

Dude that's just a vortex

Way too high ammo consumption for my tastes.

Jack that gun you would need 10min reload and 10 seg to shot

I'm OK with reload times. I think it would be worth the tradeoff to have a consistent, even stream of fire.

I'm sure I could easily make some little electric hopper or something to load the ammo tube fast. Or you could even make a little vortex block hopper just to use for reloading to fill that ammo tube fast.

I just haven't found many good build details. Like do you have the ammo tube at the same PSI as the barrel, or do you have it less, or what. Seems like if the pressure in the ammo tube was less, that much of the air going to fire the thing could push the bbs the wrong way. Also details like what that "non repeat valve" is on the kuba t1000, etc.

Need more good solid details or build info so I can make one.

Someone made a BBMG style airsoft gun out of an airsoft hopup and magazine. They did not use the nozzle as an interrupter, and used a 12g CO2 adapter as the air source/trigger.

You could then easily use midcap/highcap magazines off the shelf.

JSR providing link in 3... 2... 1...

Mag fed full auto you say? I think I also beat JSR to providing a link.

Think again ;)

Some ideas:

This was also an interesting design though the details originally posted by the maker seem to have disappeared, presumably as he was selling plans:

True, but it fires so clucking fast that anything you were firing at would have disappeared by the time the mag is empty ;)

My bbmg vortex does the same job, and I can load 1000 bbs in 50seg :D and shot them all in 10 seg  and the accuracy is good because the adjustable detent
Oh and this and this are very interesting

Dammit jack, never stop do you? :P Ah well. Maybe some day I will beat you.
