I recently traded my mortar for this, and I have a couple of questions regarding upgrading. Will a different brand of motor work in it, or will I have to buy an A&K motor (super hard to find). Also, what upgrades would you guys recommend?

Well for starters I am an airsoft fanatic as well and A&K is a brand that closely steals Tokyo Mauri and evike designs. If I were you I would go to an airsofting place close by and find a motor. I recommend airsoft megastore. Also for that gun you really need a lazer and a very cheap red dot.

Might not be a good idea to get any rail add-ons unless you want to install rails, that mg doesn't come with any on it in the stock version. You can buy conversion kits for it, or just a rail and bolt it on yourself, thats what I did with my m249 when I put a red dot on it.

I'm not so much worried about the rails and stuff, I just want internals. I want to put a 300% spring, so I need to buy a high torque motor to go with it, but I dunno which to get.

May I see a thread referring to your mortar?

Why do you need a thread for the mortar?

Its a burst disk mortar. Nothing fancy. I will see if I can find the thread I posted it in...

Edit, Here. Just scroll down and you will see the pictures.

Most gearboxes are Tokyo Marui compatible. I believe M60s and M249s use short length motors.

Check airsoftforum.com for more information. If you want to shoot a 300 spring, and you want a gun that does not break quickly, you need gears with a higher ratio than standard gears, and a battery capable of compressing the spring. Upgrading the piston and reshimming is also a good idea and pretty inexpensive.

Get familiar with a gearbox before souping it up. I get my parts from ehobbyasia.com

Also why do you want such a high power spring? It will increase fps which will increase range when shooting heavier bbs, but upgrading the hopup and the barrel are better ways to initially increase range and accuracy.

BTW Proxywars, Evike is a retailer not a manufacturer.

Messing, I want the power... And I am fairly familiar, I just wasn't sure if I could use different brand motors.

I just got a SRC high torque motor from a friend, so I hope that will do. Any other suggestions for what I will need to make the 300% spring work?

Hmm, lets point out everything wrong with this statement. One, every AEG on the market is a variant of Tokyo Marui's design, because they are the inventors of the AEG gearbox.
Second, Evike isn't even an airsoft manufacturer, they are a Cali-based website/store that is host to a number of bad business problems.

Third, It's not "stealing" because Tokyo Marui has never even made an M60 or light machine gun of any kind.
Fourth, red dots are purely cosmetic in airsoft because most people aim with the bbs by "walking" them onto the target. Finally, lasers are next to useless in the daytime when most airsofting takes place, and are also impractical for the same reasons as a red dot scope.

Also warhead, why do you want such a high fps spring? I should tell you that most fields don't allow fps over 400 for aeg's and really it is unnecessary for such a high fps spring, especially with a support weapon that will be shooting for much longer periods of time than a normal gearbox. Expect to be constantly replacing pistons and gears.

Sandman, its not for field use. Where I am, the nearest airsoft field is about 200 miles away. Not exactly close.... I just want the option of using a higher power spring, I may only go with a 250% spring or something, but 300% would be awesome. Mostly because the people I play against don't call their hits unless they "feel it".

The solution would be to shoot them again, or aim for bare skin, not increase fps levels. Also I do hope where you are playing is on land owned by you, or owned by someone who has given you permission to play there and it isnt near other property, or people for that matter.

Hey, 500-600 fps is not that much higher than what I play against. I usually end up playing against 400-575fps... Not fun when you don't have a huge load out to protect skin...
