The attached image is how I rigged the valve from AutomationDirect to be NO. I am also using regulated CO2 on this launcher.

It can't really be done mechanically. I did it using a SPDT relay and a few switches. Works fine for what I'm doing.

yes I considered that valve before. I decided to go with electrically activated because that way i can still keep the trigger assembly, just solder some wires in the correct place. I want the finished gun to look as much as the original as possible.

Also, the gun is a vsr-10 clone, so I can't think of a place to put the valve without major modding to the stock.

I considered mechanical valves before, then I realized how much movement the palm button needs before it is actuated, and I can't provide that much movement with the trigger

to use a poor main valve? An electric 3-way isn't exactly optimum.
For what he wants to get - that is an airsoft gun - a 3 way indirect acting valve is ideal
What about a mechanically actuated
that is a direct acting valve - that is a valve that opens as fast as you can open it - it isn't ideal

an indirect acting valve isn't much different from a QEV + pilot valve combo... similarly you've got the main vlave that is pnaumatically open by a smaller piloting valve

size can be a problem but he doesn't want to shoot marbles - he wants to shoot 6mm bbs - 1/4" DCV can do that

But is the solenoid valve still using current from the battery when it is idle?

That's the main concern for me with NC valves. I will probably be using 2 3cell lipos as my power source, so if the valves are using power when it's idle, then my battery will die pretty quickly

the valves you posted are all NO valves - they don't have to be powered when inactive

All the valves on automation direct are normally closed, as stated in the Specifications pdf.
The single solenoid models provide 2-position, normally
closed, spring return operation and the double solenoid models
provide 2-position, energize open/energize closed operation.

oh yea, have we arrived at the conclusion about this? The manufacture symbol and the symbol on the valve say different things from what I see

Assuming you're using batteries with an average of about 360mAH (Google provided me with this number), they would last you about 2 hours of continuous use with that specific valve (current is 0.125 amps).

and if it is normally open, so much the better, if not, oh well. I'm going to buy some 1000mah batteries anyway, so if it is NC, the batteries can last me a whole day.

one more thing, what is PT thread? I know NPT and G, but what is this PT thread that comes on a lot of e-bay valves?

ohh that explains a lot - I didn't notice that the spring return and actuator are the other way round... that symbol does not follow the rules

symbols not following the rules, what a surprise, typical of chinease manufactures/sellers on ebay.

So far the only NO valve I found are the one from clippard and this

wait no! What am I thinking? The Clippard valve is NC as well, so there is only one NO valve...
