I know this isnt an Airsoft forum but im posting everywhere,I have a Galaxy MP5K and I just removed the gearbox and found out the front of the gearbox shell is badly cracked!.

Im now looking for a complete MP5K gearbox as Im not confident enough to swap the parts into another gearbox shell, either another galaxy gearbox or a marui one will work but must be `for MP5K.

if anyone knows someone selling parts off a broken MP5K let me know

of cource I have for hours on end and you cant buy replacement MP5K Gearbox's!?. So I have to try find a second hand one or bite the bullet and try swap all the parts over to a stronger gearbox shell which im not looking forward to...

I plan to slightly cut in with a dremel into the cracks,fill the cracks with a super high strength steel epoxy we have here in Australia called" devcon" and then apply some of that tin tape used for muffler repairs but I have very limited room between gearbox shell and frame internals on the gun itself.

I think it cracked the gearbox housing because I upgraded the battery from 8.4v to 9.6 v and in full auto on 9.6 volts must have been too much of a jackhammer stress effect on the gearbox frame.

Its unbelievable but you can a replacement complete gearbox for every other airsoft gun except the MP5k!!!?.If you need a new MP5K gearbox then you have to buy a version 3 gearbox and swap over the Air Nozzle,Selector Plate,Trigger and with the galaxy that small motor cage( all these are MP5K specific) ........


BOOKYLE= thanks for the links,that gearbox you pointed out wont fit mate but indeed I'll join that Airsoft mechanics site 8).Ive read a bit about that Sorbothane mod to airsoft guns but sounds like too much messing about.I might have to try email about and see if any airsoft stores can get a Version 3 gearbox and then change the= selector Plate,Air Nozzle and trigger then send the complete gearbox off to me.If anyone knows of someone who could do this let me know,I really want my MP5K going again,I have 10,000 rounds waiting HEE,HEE..

I really dont want to try swap parts over myself,it looks too complicated to get it all back together and if not shimmed right will destroy the box..

From what I have read, when a gearbox has cracked, it's done. Any fixes will only be temporary, only a matter of time before it cracks again.

Mp5 = A V2 mechbox. Depending on the body you can rebuild the box you have, but chances are that it wont last, and you wont have room in an MP5 body for the amount of epoxy you'll need. The only one I've seen that worked, the guy layered carbon fiber over the whole mech box.

The gearbox broke after only 20 shots!, ive looked online all weekend for another MP5K gearbox but cant get one.

Its a version 3 Gearbox that has an MP5K specific
Air Nozzle.
Selector Plate.
Motor Cage.
Trigger.

There seems to be no contact info for Galaxy Airsoft anywhere!!?,I dunno how to shim the gears so need a complete box....

It would probably be worth buying a new shell in the long run, the steel epoxy would only be a temporary fix, have you felt how strong those spings are?
I would reccommend buying an MP5 'box and replacing the parts for the MP5k. The MP5 one should fit because the whole lower body of my MP5 fits into the upper of my friends MP5k.

I may well have to do that mate and put my MP5K specific parts into it,weather the gearbox will get past Aussie Customs is another story!?.

All the complete gearboxes I see have fully enclosed air Cylinder's but the MP5K has the ports cut out of the Cylinder..

It doesn't really matter, it's just a different design of cylinder, my MP5 hasn't got ports but my M4 does.
As for getting through customs you could just say its mechanical parts or something like that. For getting airsoft stuff into Northern Ireland I always just get the sender to put toy parts on the package, although it isn't illegal here, just takes ages to go through customs otherwise.
