Cosmic Muffin, you want portability speaking from exp. the 12 gram is a waste of time. forget it and go for gold,
get hold of a co2 tank eg sodastream ; for bout 40 bucks http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SODASTREAM-C ... 716wt_1031,

then get the adapter to use for normal threaded pipe; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/soda-stream- ... 59wt_1031-

acquire regulator http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aquarium-Fis ... 2c5aff88e1
and there you have it, you have regulated co2 its a start. how far you got with it depends on you

its a Co2 regulator for use on a co2 bottle, so it reg's the 3000~ psi down to your chosen pressure.

mine-http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/170691170358 ... 3321wt_968

similar item http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AG1-Gen2-Air ... 269wt_1031

for the money i would recommend these the aquarium seems to be a flow reg, these will reg pressure. but that depends on your use
