UPDATE:

hi guys - not given up on this, just been waiting for a couple of parts for my build to arrive from china before i can do a test fire plus my recovery from pneumonia is taking longer than expected so my current motivation has pretty much evaporated. I have tested my solenoid by feeding it 24vdc & it managed to hit my valve hard enough to open it slightly so there's probaby some adjustment needed, either that or i might get a smaller solenoid say 6vdc & REALLY overclock it see what happens

anybody got any ideas on a spring loaded mag rather than gravity fed?

Use an air cylinder

had a test fire earlier, and apart from a couple of minor issues like the barrel being shot off the end of my test rig, and inconsistent trigger pulses feeding the solenoid everything seems good to go so I can carry on with the build.

the weight added to the solenoid arm coupled with the extra voltage seems to have worked - the solenoid is now striking the valve real hard and releasing a shot of CO2, but I need to nail this trigger pulse down. Does anybody have an utter idiots guide to a semi-auto trigger pulse mechanism? failing that i'll have to try and acquire a busted airsoft aeg and rob the mech out of that.

Also, i tested using an old airsoft barrel that gravity feeds - an issue I noticed is that as this a "tee" piece design, with the bb being fed from the top, the CO2 blast also exited back up where the bb's would feed from. In my final build I won't be able to spring feed it from there, so if I were to rotate the tee through 180degrees and build a spring fed tube so the bb's come up from underneath instead would that work?

I believe wyz has a tutorial for a blow-forward bolt on youtube. Also, an air cylinder like on my or POLAND_SPUD's semi would work.

OK - it's all coming together nicely.

My valve seems to work OK with the solenoid now as I have had a few successful firings on my test rig. My trouble now is a magazine. I was trying to make a spring fed tube from the underneath, similar to a "T" setup but due to restrictions on room (meaning it would only hold about 6 - 8 bb's) plus the fact that it would need constantly unscrewing, the springs and follower removing, refilling with bb's, spring and follower refitting then screw plug being put back, makes reloading a bit of a chore. I'd like to gravity feed it, but my problem is where the bb would fall into my barrel, the resultant shot of CO2 propellant would push bb's back up the feed tube as well as down the barrel?

any tips or pointers? I'll try to get some pics up of my setup for clarification
