Vortex Block Chamber Size Effect

Hey, guys, fairly new here. Been wondering, does the diameter of the inside of the vortex block affect the Rate Of Fire and Air Efficiency?

I'm a fan of airsoft  , and vortex blocks have some limits for this sport, namely:

a. ROF directly correlates to the FPS.
b. To be portable, you need a compressed air tank, and those run out
too fast. :( (this is really the main problem)
c. Use way too much ammo to be played with a lot.

I'm trying to figure out if using a small vortex chamber will alleviate some of these problems.

First off welcome! Always good to see new members

As far as your question is concerned, slowing down a vortex's ROF can usually be achieved with a light detent. A detent will also have the added benefit of increasing air efficiency and power by allowing pressure to build in the chamber. Besides that, be sure to use a very good fitting barrel and an airtight BB chamber

Thanks for the welcome, mate! :)
I've seen the detent idea before, and thought about it some.
How much does it increase the efficiency? And what would you recommend making the detent out of? I've seen ones that used rubber hose, and ones that used a ball bearing with a spring behind it.
Also, I still wonder if the size of the chamber would affect the efficiency.

Bigger chamber -> more pressure lost to expansion -> less performance

Note that due to the high rate of fire such devices tend to have, a 400 round magazine that might serve you well from an AEG firing 5 rounds per second is not as good when you're typically shooting 50-150 rounds per second from a vortex type BBMG.

Some advice on BBMGs worth absorbing in this thread: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/dvs-off ... 18159.html

Thanks for the link, JSR. I forgot about the limited ammo amount. I guess that would pretty much negate any benefit I got from the smaller chamber. Any of you guys play airsoft?
