tryng to build a vortex block to use with 6mm airsoft, is it a good idea to keep the air inlet below 6mm to stop jamming ? was thinking 5mm diameter.

Why would it jam? Any BBs that find their way into the inlet if it's bigger than 6mm are going to be blown out anyway.

the outlet/barrel will be slightly bigger in ID as it will have to curve in my set up, then I will try and join it to 6mm ID for the barrel exit (maybe a screw on silencer ?)
It was the air entry into the vortex block that I was wondering about.
So another question then, would it still work if the air entry is 180 degrees from the exit point? I'm thinking it would be a smoother entry portion into the outlet ? And it would be easier for me to make

Well, air doesn't bend it fills any and every chamber it gets into so direction doesn't matter as long as there are no restrictions. As far as the ammo goes a straight path is best. Again i'm just guessing...

gonna build a test one, maybe out of nylon, will report back when completed.
Also just thought if I don't drill fully into the block for the barrel attachment I don't have to shape and blend the barrel to the vortex shape that was the part I was not looking forward to

Cool! I've been wanting to try this to get a longer barrel/shorter gun design. Looking forward to seeing you get it working.

work is progressing slowly on this project, finished the vortex block and the side shields, the vortex hole is about 40mm, the shields block it from 20 to 10mm, does that seem like a good range ?

Sounds like more than enough to have it feeding reliably if you have a good flow from your valve.

Working on this again, it's going to be based on my pump action BB gun that I built awhile ago, never really used it as it was a pain to reload, so the frame is mostly built already, just got to add the vortex block/hopper. The barrel starts at the base of the hopper so will need to curve.
Should look like this with the folding stock, front grip and the barrel extension on

Cut and bent the barrel
Total length is about 540mm
