Hey yall.

Thinking of a way to give back to the community whilst I work on my new air gun.

We all love MS paint and hand sketches to help conceptualise what we're trying to make. But I thought I'd use my skillz to write up a program that allows you to formulate a project in real time.

I cannot tell you how many books and pens ive been through with designs since I started this journey back in 2009, so to have an .EXE app that will let me draw up a design, move, add and adjust things on the fly, then save and go, was perfect (for me). So I thought I'd also share it over with you guys.

Open to suggestions, see pic for an idea.

NOTE: Not everything is finished or added yet. So remain calm.

Features will include
- Rotating
- Flipping
- Scaling
- Night Mode
- Automatic Saving

Edit:
- Wire-frame Mode

Categories
- Triggers
- Trigger-Guard
- ButtStocks
- Forestocks
- Receivers
- Muzzles
- Sights and Appetures
- Magazines and styles
- Barrels
- + Extras

Sort of what I do but it looks much better. I use MS Visio. sort of built up a library of parts I have used and I can import actual weapon photos and trace them to make scale drawings.

I like it. Cross-sectional stuff is very important regarding the feasibility of a design. So that’s something i’ll definately be adding. As far as completion. the program is about 40% done. When it’s finished I’d love to have it on the sites archive or somewhere equally accessible.

Would be an honour. Polishing textures and objects currently. Just trying to make sure I include as much content as I can. Not a fan of going back and adding tonnes of things I forgot. I hate half-jobs.

Sounds like a good idea but it would be useful if you incorporated some real world items and scaled them appropriately, for example some common sprinkler valves, blowguns, ball valves and commercial QEVs, different sizes of paintball bottles (13 cu, 48 cu, 12 oz CO2 etc.)

The Soda bottle here for example doesn't really look like a soda bottle, having say 1,2 and 3 liter soda bottles from some common manufacturers accurately scaled would offer a more accurate representation for a potential project.

I agree. It's just a placeholder for now.

The big thing is, I'd like to see a list of things that should be added that I don't really know of. I have a QEV, A Hammer and some ball valves of varying sorts but it seems most of the stuff added so far is either very generic or stufff i've used personally. Will need to do some research it seems

Maybe add the ability to specify rough dimensions of each component and stretch the image to fit the scale. That way homemade valves can easily be accounted for.

Scroll up. There’s a feature list that includes scaling.

Just an update on progress. Here is some hardware. Need as many suggestions as possible before I write the first copy so I can include it.

I will very much wait for you to finish this program, it's a very good and necessary program, I need it.

Program is 90% finished. Polishing items and such. Would love to have it finished by Sunday! Watch this thread. I'll be posting a video sample in the coming days!

What I find useful with Visio is the ability to drag in reference lines and to get scaled measurements to see if things will fit and what size pieces need to be

Won't be going that far out of sheer laziness. But hopefully this app will help people work out what they want to do, and then go from there.

So I didn't manage to get all the work done by Sunday (my time zone) but the Beta will be released for trial *tonight*. Good news. I will open a new thread and will take questions and answers plus more suggestions there. Thanks!
