Inlet Placement Testing On Clouds.

I am toying with the thought of making a Cloud BBMG but I am not sure on were I should place the Inlet for air which is a Blowgun.

Most Clouds I see have the blow gun placed at the front bottom of the chamber is there a reason to this?Is this done to try and make a venturi effect which would cause a slight vacuum and cause the BB's to be sucked towards the airflow?

I have a few types of BBMG Cloud ideas that I think I will test to see which has the most efficientcy ROF and Max Velocity.

If you can think of any ideas of the tests I am going to test out it would be great.Or any evidence to support certian placements of inlets for air.

The diagrahm below shows a few different types of inlet placements I will test,the Blue arrows show direction of air flow.

so pretty much the bb resavor is pressurized?

Interesting design. I'm curious as to how well it will perform.

I don't have a doubt in my mind that it will jam up on you when closing the valve though.

Yes, and the pressure behind the BBs is the highest it can ever be, hence the remarkable increase in performance.

With my prototype illustrated below, I got energy levels more than double the ones I got for my vortex strafer (although to be fair, I used a tighter barrel than the one on the vortex).

RNA I tried to fill from the back....it resulted in sh-tty performance so I improvised...

Well I am going to test a few designs so I might just aswell throw that one in there aswell-Jackss.But I can see it jamming,trying to cease fire and the ball valve being flooded with BB's might not be able to close.

I personally think the first drawing with the blow gun air flow traveling 90degrees to the barrel would have the best ROF due to the venturi effect.But I could be wrong.

I will keep you all posted as to how this works as I may start testing end of the week.

I also plan on doing some testing with strafers and some other stuff. Spudthug's cloud got me thinking, I'll probably make one, then make a block for it, and shoot as a cloud and vortex, and record ROF, power, and air comsumption at 10 psi increments from 70-110 psi.

As I said, never happened with my prototype - the round shape of the BBs as well as the momentum they have while going through the ball valve means it's practically impossible for it to jam.

What size/type of barrel did you use that was so tight? I'm making an awesome inline vortex gun, if I can make a good vortex block.....I've already screwed up a whole foots worth of 2" pvc rod. If you would pm me with that that would be great, thanks.

this is the stuff I use, It comes coiled so you have to straighen it out but the inner diameter is 4.5mm which means it's a perfect fit for lead BBs and jist 0.1mm wider than steel BBs.

Perhaps you could use a gate valve of sorts to reduce the risk of jamming? Not one on a screw thread though, one with a handle you pull in and out.

The only problem I can see with the design is, that it will probably force all the BBs forward at once and cause a potential jam, but not from the ball valve. Why not have a pipe on the inside with elbows to direct the airflow in opposite directions thereby creating a vortex of swirling BBs.
