Hi, I am new and I have been reading everything and soaking it all in. A really nice gun I would like to make is found here but I can't understand how to make it. Any help.....here it is: http://s69.photobucket.com/albums/i66/topbelview/

You could make a cloud BBMG, which is childishly simple to put together, then dress it up to look like a tommy gun.

Yea but a real feltman is alot more consistent than a cloud

I thought you were going to make a vortex machine gun, weren't you?

Yea, I am making a vortex gun.....but I can STILL want to make a nice ''Feltman'', can't I? Do I have permission? Get my vortex going, NOW! get to it.

Jack ---NO CLOUDS for me. I am aiming high, as they say.

Thank you very very much for the patents. WOW...that really opened my eyes to ALOT......you can do anything now.

that thing looks like the cross between a miniature M-2 browning and an AK47. its surprisingly asteticaly pleasing.

honestly, i would go for some mechanical type of feed if youre aiming high. look at some of the marble machine guns, or disasemble a GBB pistol and get some ideas. i know i made my m-11 shoot at about 2000 Rounds per minute.... of course the BB's dont go that fast and the cooldown is ENORMUS but w/e, it was cool to have it buzz........

i read the patents. the thing is basically a GBB gun, exept it has a tube magazine. im pretty sure i could simplify this a bunch, get consistent and HIGH rof's. ill post it shortly, its so horribly simple. i was actually thinking of using my old AEG's barrel/hop-up assembely to make one.

Nah, it's a Tommy Gun lookalike.

Personally I don't think it's worth the complication when in terms of performance you're not really going to get anything better than your average cloud.

I just want to do it and then be done with it. I am very good with wood, and I would really think it would be nice. Maybe I could make a few and give them away. I like making others happy. Its a nice feeling. I just hope me and others together can figure it out. I am asking for everyone's help.....I know with more heads it will be a better outcome!!!!!!!!!!

Well, what i suggest is you, as jack said build a cloud (doesn't have to be do a vortex if you want) and dress it up to look like a Thompson and then once your firing that and you're happy start building a the "feltman".

Trust me when i say to do this that way you have something to shoot with in between working on your gun and whenever.I know from experience if you just work on building a really complicated gun and in the end it doesn't work or your bored and you don't have anything to shoot.

And plus i will provide you with experience to put in practice when you make the "feltman"

well I headed out tonight and picked up a bunch of stuff. I got 3 sections of pipe. 1 1/2, 1 1/4 and 3/4.....I got all kinds of tee's and caps and elbows and well, everything. I got a the blowgun, but I am going to get a pressure washer handle too. I got the 1/4'' brakeline, bought a 5ft. one.

I will make one to use while I try my hand at the feltman. I have been pouring over the patents but my neck is hurting....they are flipped, wish I could get them right side up.

Print it, and turn the paper sideways...

Modderx- funny thing....I did just that and then thought about it and wondered if anyone would say that to me!!!!!!! I laughed at myself for a little while at how 'inside the box' I sometimes can think!!!!!

Ok, I went ahead and read all the patents and made copies and notes so that in my mind I know what needs to be done. Seems to me, Mr. Feltman got more and more complex with his design. Whether to stop copy cats or because of reliability, I am not sure. But by the last patent, 1957 I think, I had had enough of schematics.
My question now is, how can I ''easily'' control the rate of fire. That is really what the complex issue is in his designs. The pin thingy he did in 1941 is the easiest to do but still quite complex....is there a way to slow down the rate of fire. I guess its the reason why some of you don't use you bbmg, because they use up too much ammo. I mean, a cloud is out of ammo in seconds and so is a vortex......so how can I or we, control the rate now? At least slow it down. I want machine gun speed but NOT 200 a second! any ideas here? I really want to do this. I understand the whole trigger and magazine and everything concept except for slowing it down. thanks

Yeah, the first one probably is easiest to build. Looks like it would be easy to control the ROF on as well.
Those two pins are alternated up and down by the electric motor, so just get a variable speed electric motor and then you have a variable ROF. If you go really slow you'll be wasting a bunch of air, but for a decent machine gun ROF you shouldn't be wasting too much air.

This has been one of my design goals for years now, I think the best idea I've had is to use some sort of electrically powered rotary or reciprocating breech, that allows you to vary the ROF according to the motor's RPM:

Never built the prototype though, as ideally the system would not need an external power source. I guess you could substitute the electric motor for an air powered drill.

Some other thoughts I've had on the subject:
