these are "fruits" from a little blue pine in my garden. You can't eat them lol but i couldn't find a better word to describe it. And the circuit that i have here has impressed me more than one time with its reliability. it produces 5mm violet arcs at approx 60hz, that give quite a time to ignite a mixture lol. The gap is made between a wire and the chamber, making it unholdable. (got shoked one time with this baby...wont do it again!!!

Okay, ignition worked on my 2x mix five minutes ago. I'm gonna put this in a little pink box, with a switch, and put this all on a wooden board. i'll be back in a few hours this evening with pics if i can finish it in time.

Okay, tripple post, but it's finally done!!! the hybrid on its case, (an old pc skull) here is a little picture ...Image

The spark, not hard to capture, it is extremely fast..

Image

and a little video of ignition (not live) so you can fully understand why it will ignite !!!

Your mad firing that inside your house! When i tested my 700ml Hybrid at 2x it was aimed at a metal drum, went through that traveled a further 50 feet then went through 1/2 inch plywood! If you change your ammo to something harder i strongly suggest you take it outside.
Well done with getting your cannon to work :)

well, all i shot inside is soft; and wouldn't take more than a slight shock to explode. I've got myself a new problem.....i can't get it to shoot again...i simply don't understand..
i hear the "grrrrrr" of the sparks inside the chamber, but nothing happens...any ideas? any help would be greatly apreciated.

how big is your spark gap? maybe it doesnt have the juice to spark in a presurised chamber, try making it smaller

it has the juice, it sparks.....but i come to think something...i'm using butane. Butane boils at 0°C, but today it was -3. and i found some liquid in my chamber. i think the butane simply turned up from gaz to liquid in the chamber. ther eis a question i might add...if there is a spark in my chamber, no matter what length, the mix might burn, right? or do i need a "hot" spark?

well first off nice cannon, but about burning.. obviously you need a fairly hot spark, depends on how much fuel and whatnot there is.

If the fuel is liquid that could cause a problem, because it won't be filling the chamber, so you won't be igniting anything. Just inject it in your house, walk outside real quick and fire and it should still be a gas i would think

i think that my chamber design is crap. The next money i get will be spent on propane and a 2" steel pipe. i'm going to sleep, post some feedback if you want, i'll read everything with great pleasure tomorow (midnight here in paris !!! )

That's a great looking gun mate, job well done. I've only just recently thought of getting into hybrids. I've been making high pressure guns for a while but I'm not sure how I would go with making one.. Hmm..

Just assemble it without teflon to be sure of the final design. And then you are ready to go! Now that i have one, even if it misfires 4 times out of 10, t is great. Just one advise : don't underestimate the noise it does. The noise has me impressed more than the power. I don't know for the other ones, but mine is definately louder than a gun. (a friend of mine, a "gendarme" , like a military branch of the cops ; heard it, and he said "putain ca claque deux fois plus fort que mon sig!" which means litteraly, "fuck! it's two times louder than my Sig!!" ) that was only a 3.5 x/ 35 psi shot.

ready to shoot (not inside :P )

How loud the gun is, is a great sign of power. My 8mm BB gun at 300psi is someone deafening but ehh...It'll be alot more powerful when Im able to greatly increase the chamber size. (I've cut it right down so I'm able to use my Shock pump) To make the chamber the way it was and to use 300psi, I'll be looking at close to 910+fps. At the moment I'm getting maybe 550 :( The psi drop is terrible...

I understand that! i think i'm going to invest in a stungun or something like that to provide a better ignition.

Edit: here is a pic of three shots at a 1/2" wood boad (really strong stuff) i shot at with the same pine fruits as yesterday. upper right impact was at 3 x, two others at 2x.

Ok, after now a couple of days, i come with another destruction pic.
This is made by shooting 12 .177cal lead balls at the same wood board than two days ago . Shot at 3.5x, from 10 meters away. board is in fact 3/4" thick. :
projectile entered here......Image

and went out here...:

Image

the estimated velocity is 660 fps, as it does the exact same entrance and exit as shot from my air rifle (exept i shoot one at a time from the air rifle lol)

EDIT: perhaps new ignition, reliable one this time; and perhaps a "how-to" also, as i don't think anyone did this before on spudfiles.
here is the youtube video. i will test it on the hybrid as soon as i have the time.

What kind of transformer is that? If you are operating it as an autotransformer, you could rig up some sort of solid state or mechanical switching circuit to give it more reliability.
