Thanks but with your paint skillz I would like btb to make the diagram.
BTW if you can lower the rof can't you make the bolt not chop bb's?
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

 i'm offended! it gets the point across doesn't it? the bolt cuts into the BB because of the high speed + thin wall

It shouldn't chop if the damn bb drops far enough down.

I know you don't want to do a bolt because of the feed problems, you can make a bolt (for .177 bb's) that will operate pretty much perfectly if you use a 1/4" compression tee, a small spring for the ram, and a 1/4" compression tube insert. That, if installed backwards into one of the compression socket things will operate as the bolt. Instead of a sprung magazine, I recommend using a small air hose running to the top of you magazine from near the qev outlet. The blast of air from the top will keep the bb's feeding. This probably is kind of confusing, so here's a link of the kind of ghetto way I did it. You could probably make it much nicer:

I got this idea from our fellow shooters at rc naval combat sites. Very nice video (a little dark, but it didn't matter). This is a very smart idea, congrats on pulling it off!

The test run looks good so far. I'm almost tempted to try something like that myself.

If you need them, I do have some bolt designs and mechanisms that might work for this, but most of them would require machining or clever construction, so they are something of a last ditch resort.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

The best way I can think of to make a bolt work, would be to increase its travel, allowing more time between shots for a bb to load, but that would slow the rof somewhat.

i thought the point of a non-vortex/cloud automatic was a slow-er ROF though

You should add some hop-up to it. Make it go a lot farther.

It is, but it is also to increase the efficiency by making is use less air per shot.

The valve already does that ( ROF)

Bolt would be better if I could make one that would NEVER cause a problem.

I'm looking into it...

First I'll try the miniature bb chamber, if that doesn't work (might fire multiple bb's per shot, with power going down) I'll build a bolt.

First I want to test it and have a working gun.
Then I'll upgrade ( once more)

double post, but it's relevant.

I have tested the QEV and Snapvalve set up on the deathray, with the small bb chamber.
After initial failure, due to the vortex-elbow being too large for .177 lead bb's I have done it.

Although a 12 gram is too small to call it a deathray right now, it fires in small seperate bursts of about 3 bb's a time ( meaning I need to cut down chamber volume)

It still suffers from a small leak, wasting that valuable pressure build up.
When I release the trigger, the chamber slowly empties. So I'll need to fix that.

The bursts are much more powerfull than when I tried it in normal bbmg style.
And I still need to up the pressure with a stronger spring in the snapvalve.

THe pop-pop-pop-pop makes it sound really cool.
You can feel the snapvalve piston popping, so you get a real machine gun feel.

So..
Things to do:
Fix leak
Cut down chamber volume
Install stronger spring
Get the 350 gram paintball bottle filled for better sustained fire.
Repaint

And than...pulverise stuff!!

Triple post!! Wow...but it is relevant...again...

I have made the chamber smaller, and used two springs to up the pressure.

since, today, I found a fridge and now posess a new frigdypump, I used that to fire the gun at 35 bar input.

It scared the living be-jesus out of me!
My old compressor never went up high enough for me to know the snapvalve's preset pressure...

I fired it at a can , but I ended up penetrating 1 cm into the brick wall behind it!
I'll post some pictures tomorrow, because i know you won;t believe me otherwise...

The air ran out pretty quickly, because I just used the air in the ( steel re-enforced) hydraulic hose, wich connects the compressor to the gun..( about a foot long...)
that was a pretty dramatic result.
I might step away from the 12 grams ( cost) and build a reservoir out of 1" steel for it, tucked under the barrel.

I did not hit the brick, but the cement between the bricks. To my knowledge this is even harder.

Now comment you guys...I don;t want a quadru...qaudreu....
I don't want to write 4 posts in a row...cause I can't spell it!

It scared the living be-jesus out of me!

If it's too much for you, I might be persuaded to take it off your hands. :)

Just twist my rubber arm.

Didn't think so.

Yay! You won't have to quadruple post.
