JSR would it change anything...? I think that the piston would open only a little and air would leave this valve immediately... there wouldn't be much time for pressure to act on that greater surface of the piston and to move the piston up.... air would just leave without actually openning the valve more....


don't you think that this would be a problem ?

I was thinking about this, perhaps it would help if the position of the side vent could raised sufficiently for it to be blanked off by the piston until it starts to move.

Still, commercial pop-off valves seem to operate without this restriction...

After a flurry of activity regarding auto-pistons, the discussion seems to have died down somewhat - however, our very own Brian the brain has designed something similar and made it work

Following my string of failed prototypes, I find this very comforting and might just be inclined to build one more

Ah, yes I died down a bit on this because I've been at the sales !!!!

Oh and also I've been looking at real world fittings and bits and pieces to see how I could actually make one of them. I'm not going for the pop-off valve look though, as I want to valve and feed system connected.

Also I reckon with the addition of a spark plug the design we've got on this thread will make a truly great auto-hybrid, which is my Holy Grail.

Well, it started as one, but if you look at the deisgns on page 1 again, they're just the type of thing which would work for a hybrid. In fact there's no reason why it couldn't be both when you look at it.

So, yes it is a pneumatic, but yes it is also a hybrid (perhaps).

I removed the picture of my "snapvalve" in hope of one day selling 'em in Holland.

I'll still help out anyone here to build one or a valve similar to it.
Just that from now on I don't want any newbies ( esp. from Holland) to see it.

Most of you interested in this subject have probably seen the diagram anyway and have understood how it works in one glance..right??

haha lol maybe if someone was to inquire about the cost of said planned gun and maybe they would find it would be within their budget and suppose if they wanted to make it would you maybe sell the plans?

are you saying it will be out of my budget or you won't sell plans

although it probably will be out of my budget, my piston valved marble cannon will come to over £100 and to use it to it's full potential i need to make a pump aswell although i will have some of the pipe for that leftover i suppose...
