Shotspud

I want to build a gun that will spread fire like a shotgun when it hits the end of the barrel but I don't know how to build the thing that will cut up the spuds for the spread shot. Any suggestions?

peel and wet a potato and cut it length wise and width wise a few times, and try your best to hold the pieces together. carefully slide the potato down the barrel by holding the barrel horizontal and slowly increasing the angle on the gun, that way the pieces won't come apart. then fire it and see if it works! just made that up so I'm very curious to see if it works. make sure to wet the potato first so that it will stick to itself and slide down the barrel easier.

Well just use the extra potatos from the slugs i take it out of and jam them all in there to get the shot gun effect. works quite well fiorm em just chop them up in a bucket then take a clump and stuff. yea i know its a bit primative but it works . THough if you want to cut them up i used a 1/16 inch section of steel grating ofver it about half way. i usefa blow torch to het it up and mod it around the tube and then used hose clamps to hols it down.

Hope that helps

LOL, youre a spaz saladtosser!

I would say that putting a regular spud down the barrel then loading in chunks on top of it would yield the only good results, unless you youlayed a thin piece of cloth over the end of the barrel then put the chunks inside of the cloth and rammed it down. cutting the spud into pcs and trying to put them together and putting them in would only end up with having tater tots in your chamber. The chunks would need to be wadded in one of the two manners that I mentioned. The wadding will maintain the pressure to fire the chunks at their highest potential velocity.

This would be better suited to the ammo section. Perhaps you didn't post there because there already is a thread on shotgun ammo there?!

OK just put a metal grid in your barel it has to be whelded, glued pretty tight. Sharpen it so that when a potatoe exits it gets cut to little pieces(sticks). I've never seen anyone doing this so be carefull.

Build one of these I thought of this idea about 6 months ago and I have loved it ever since. It makes French Fries, it works the best at lower pressure or it just makes mashed potatoes. It’s a 2in pipe with holes drilled in it so then you can carefully run SS wire through it. My barrel is 1.5 so this fits lose over it I just hold on with my hand works great. Hope this helps
