When it needs to be replaced. You usually don't really have to replace a cannon unless it cracks, or is melted by a ocnstant flame. Keep your cannon in a safe inside, and its dosnt crack or get melted you usually dont need to replace them.

Or if you notice a leak somewere when your igniting that must be fixed with epoxy putty. But believ me wen the time comes you will know if it needs to be replaced.

Seriosly though, a pvc spudgun if mainted will last for years upon years. I know of one that belongs to a friends dad that is well over 15 years old and still in good condition.
Just keep it away from direct light and extreme temperature change (like in a garage or shed where it gets hot and then cold during the year).
Also keep it clean (just a wet rag, no cleaners). This is probably unnecasary, but it won't hurt.
But as cannon creator said, if you see any visiable damage either fix it or replace the entire cannons, its your call. If you don't feel safe using it, go ahead and replace it.

yea mine are put together and by that night i am already looking through spudfiles for my next project

Should last a long time provided you take care of it (Like f.c. said).
THough by the time it does sadly pass on You should have gotten over that gun and made a more kickarse one.

I'd just check it for defects every so often, and keep it in a warm dark place. Even if it appears perfect after a year or so, I'd replace the pipe portion. The fittings should be fine, but you probably have dropped it or banged it at least once and forgotten, and the pipe part is the most likely to suffer the worst from impact damage.

Silverdooty, that gun uses a DWV coupler, and possibly more, I can't tell from here. That makes it completely unsafe and a deathtrap to be around.

He's been around it for 15 years. Don't you think he would've died by now if it wasn't safe?

Bah, don't be such a grinch. He's had it 12 years... A single DWV peice doesn't make it a "deathtrap" or "completely unsafe." As long as he doesn't bring it over 60-70 psi too often...

Though you probably DO want to change it out sometime
