"You aren't allowed to call this a 'sniper' until you hit a 5"x5" target at 500 yards, and even that is being generous."

:o :!: Meet this requirement with any gun, any ammo and have reasonably good stopping power when it hits the target, your gun will officialy be crowned a true spud sniper rifle. :) :D  :o 8) :P

I don't know of any spud guns that can shoot 500 yards without aiming very far up...

The best angle to get the farthest distance is 45 degrees (most of the time)

But the guy who said my quote is sorta wrong then, a "sniper" that can hit a 5"x5" target is probably not going to be a spud gun, but a real gun that fires real ammunition.
We need a real definition, like "hit a 5"x5" target at 100 yards or something.

Im in the process of building my own sniper LOOKING spud 6-10mm air gun.

500 yards is a long shot for a real rifle, how could you expect a homemade non rifled rifle to come anywhere close to that?

I dident expect that, the guy who said my quote did.

Anyone else?

I class a sniper rifle as a device that can hit the target first shot.(obviously not point blank)
Maybe we could have say the length of your barrel x10, that would be the qualifying distance?

The guy that said it was referring to real snipers, as a sniper is in fact the person shooting and not the gun.

It was more or less from people calling spudguns 'rifles' when their barrel is not rifled and the person you quoted was saying for it to be qualified as a snipers weapon, it must be able to hit a 5"x5" target at 500 yards.

This is a stupid competition, for a spudgun to be able to have that kind of accuracy you may as well build a proper rifle.
