Stupid Spudcannon Website (Not Spudfiles)

I saw this website in one of the random googlebot adverts at the top of the page and began reading their homepage. I found that they were saying pnuematic cannons are safer, yet more powerful than combustions because they didn't use fire! I thought this was rediculous, and that maybe pcguy should contact them and convince them to get this off their page, for the good of the spudding community. And for all those kids whose parents still think that a spud gun can blow up even when made properly.

I really think that pcguy should talk to the owner, because this is not good. Something going wrong could be very damaging to the spudding world.

I agree, media hates us as it is. We dont want it to be worssened. PCGuy should contact the owner. Also, even worse, i dont think he is selling regulators with the CO2, although there is a pop off valve. But then there would be no reason for CO2. How can you tell if the parts a dwv, they are painted and im not sure how you can tell?

I have sent him an email in the past, but he did not respond.
feel free to contact him yourself.

Here is the contents of that email:

Code: Select all

On behalf of the spud gunning community around the world, I request you to build much safer cannons.
Outlined below are things you must change:

1) NEVER make pneumatics from abs or cellular core or DWV components. Only use pressure rated (nsf-pw) pvc pipe in pneumatic cannon construction. It is widely known that neither abs nor cellcore can withstand pressure and there are well documented cases of cannons blowing up on people who use these materials.

2) NEVER use cellular core pipe in any cannon what so ever.

3) Drill holes for threaded components like fill valves through 2 layers of pvc. For example, through the overlap between a fitting and a pipe.

4) Don't exaggerate your distances that the cannons can attain. We are not retarded. We know ball valves have bad performance and could never obtain those distances.

5) Don't advertise in wikipedia. It is a reference site, not a billboard. It violates wikipedia terms of use and furthermore, it is immoral to foul up a neutral encyclopedia with advertising.

I plan to hear your response to this email, so please contact me.

Wow, that is even worse. That makes me angry. They really should respond to concerns. I'll pm pcguy about this thread.

Wow, his C02 powered cannons have straight unregulated gas going into a chamber. Wouldn't the flow from the C02 tank out do the pop off valve?

It's hard to tell if those reducers are dwv. Normally dwv bell reducers have a very shallow socket depth, but I can't really be sure about those.

They look like dwv to me...

Are you sure, or are you simply just saying that because it can be used against the site? Don't take this the wrong way, but I can tell you are really enraged with this site. I can understand, and believe me, I am extremly dissapointed in their construction, but don't get too mad that you begin to stop thinking rationally. It can happen easily, so take a quick break and relax.
I am with _fnord, we cannot really tell, but they could be. Remember, relax and be rational .

Lol, I wasn't that mad. But, I suppose it is possible they are not. The twister though, what a joke. They exaggerate its performance so grossely it annoys me.

That's true, it was really silly of them to exaggerate that distance. You seemed mad to me while I was reading the messages, but you sound a lot better now (and yes, you can tell someone's mood form the way they write.)
