What would you like to see annihilated?

After some testing yesterday and today, the SCTBDC v1.5 is operational, and seals perfectly up to ~400 psi. Now of course, this seems too good to be true. Guess what? It is. I'm now out of nitrogen, and have to send the tank away to get it filled, which will be at least 2 weeks. Combined with my job, my other hobbies, and the potential for bad weather on the way, I may not have sufficient videos and pics for a while yet to be able to post it.

Since shooting days are few and far between, due to setup times, transportation problems, and other such things, I will likely only have one shooting day before I post.

For this reason, I would like you all to suggest ideas for what I should shoot on that day. After 1 week, I will take the best ammo suggestions that are within my means, and build them. To give you a rough idea of the sorts of things you should be coming up with, the current setup can fire a 100 gram projectile at ~840 fps in subzero temperatures, and a 1 pound projectile at ~530 fps.

Useful suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

And now for another teaser video. I apologize, as it was only at 200 psi due to me not wanting to put a hole in my shed. Projectile was 1/2 pound of 3/8" ball bearings wrapped in tinfoil.

See if you can come up with a 50 gram projectile and a old engine block, try and crack the block!

Or find a Pole and shoot him!

he can try but a real Pole would steal his gun before he could fire it :D

That is one mismatched set of unit systems.

I don't know if you could get hold of a hundred paintballs and just make a huge smear with those. Not really very destructive, but it would be cool anyway.
A similar thing could be done with a thousand airsoft BBs or something - there has been little experimentation into really large numbers of individually fairly insignificant projectiles all hitting (essentially) simultaneously.

Other than that I can't think of any things I'd like to see that you won't have either thought of, or it would be too impractical to shoot for various reasons.

It would be really interesting to see if a 1lb pykrete slug could blow a door off of its hinges...
That's a good suggestion, but I think I'll use a 2 pound Pykrete slug, in a 3" barrel. The beauty of this one is that I can do it at home, since it isn't about actual penetration. That should achieve slightly over 400 fps, and about 5000 ft/lbs of muzzle energy. I'll attach a piece of 1/4" plate steel to the door on the impact site too, to transfer more energy to the door.

The more of these ideas that I can use without lugging all of my materials to a wide open space the better. Low richochet possibilities are also very good. I'll also try this with ice and wax slugs, as all of these disintegrate on impact.

Thanks for the ideas, and keep 'em coming.

:D Now you can finnally pierce that old 1/4" steel plate...
Then a 1/2" one

I would very much like to see a piece of 36"x3/8" inch tempered steel rebar with fins welded onto it and a pointed tip, shot out of a 3" barrel with a sabot. Come now, we can't forget about all that JSR taught us about sectional density, can we?

This gun simply BEGS for APFSDS munitions.

APFSDS rounds are coming, but, for obvious reasons, I can't fire them in my backyard.
A similar thing could be done with a thousand airsoft BBs or something - there has been little experimentation into really large numbers of individually fairly insignificant projectiles all hitting (essentially) simultaneously
How does 5000 .12 gram airsoft rounds @ 142 m/s (460fps) sound? That's a respectable airsoft gun velocity, so if they can go through 3/4" plywood, we'll know that something's up. Alternatively, I could do 10000 @ 110 m/s (360 fps). How does that sound? (other than incredibly messy)

I'm going to buy the 3" barrel tomorrow, as well as upgrade the chamber volume to ~170 ci, as large surface area projectiles seem to be the way this is going, and I want spectacular results with as little possibility of injury as possible. I got hit in the face with a 9.5mm (3/8") steel ball bearing from a richochet today, and it was kind of nervewracking to see a cloud of steel hit the target, then bounce off as a whole and return in my general direction.

My vote is still with the pole.... but how about a load of nails?

Nails could rip my barrel to shreds if I f*cked it up, and 12' long sections of 3" ABS pipe aren't incredibly cheap. Also, nails would end up on the ground, and destroy a lawnmower or someone's foot in the summer.

I shot a load of nails from my two inch barrel and it survived fine, but I understand the other part, I thought you were going somewhere far away to shoot. Hmmn how about jello?
