I know the epoxy can take it, but the PVC i'm a bit less confident in.

That's basically the idea, a bigger version of this incorporating the lessons learned, ie longer breech for the piston to travel in so hopefully it can cycle full auto without the need of a bolt stop, might even use the moving piston to help the bolt along ;)

I like the cartridge feed design but won't it be a pain to make shells for a full auto gun? Can you save the shells and simply reload the projectile into them? That would make it alot easier if you could

Also wats up with your new profile pic?

Well, I'm thinking of 20-30 round bursts at most, and the cartridges are simply a length of barrel tubing with one end blocked off and holes in the side, you can make a whole load in one evening. Of course it would be easier to take them out of the equation, cartridges are impractical in this case, but I'm willing to make the effort purely for the *cool* factor :)

The pic is cropped from this rather fetching oil painting, though for the life of me I cannot remember the artist's name.

Never been much of a fan of Pure Pwnage, but the "Boom Headshot!" catchphrase is addictive - got to have something to shout when I'm owning n00bs.

My personal favourite is sitting in the gunner's seat in the attack helicopters on Battlefield 2 and mowing people down with the chaingun - or more amusingly, the autocannon (because you just have to hit "somewhere near them" - and the explosion will finish them off).
I'm getting damn good with the guided missiles now - those things are lethal against any armour they hit.

Problem is, most players don't realise how effective a gunner can be, so they don't bother to pick one up before the they fly off - that leaves them with just the basic rockets, which aren't that powerful or accurate.
The fact is the gunner can swivel so much faster, and where the main pilot will struggle to hit a single target in a large group, the chaingun can mow down the group in one, and it can shoot potential threats before they can take the helicopter down, so it lasts a lot longer, and can do over 10 times the damage before the pilots are forced to abandon it.

I have gone entire battles in just one helicopter - with a competent pilot and gunner using the VoIP system to allow them work together as best they can, and as long as the ground troops aren't completely useless, it can turn the tide of a losing battle on it's own. I went online with a friend who's an amazing pilot, and... well, suffice to say, 60 kills and 2 deaths between us (got shot down once, we weren't quite quick enough).

As for my avatar, it's a picture of me taken on the two days around the full moon, when I curiously develop the ability to bend spoons telekinetically.

yeah it annoys me on Halo when no one will ride in my warthog :(

although the most satisfying thing is on Call of Duty 4.... i am the most amazing sniper and its soo satisfying when you out snipe a sniper, you can tell that they are trying to get their crosshair on your face and then... Boom Headshot! and they have no face left (well not much head left if i use the barrett :D )

Well, im thinking, and i think, jack, that i could use some clever electronics to make the snap vavle a select-fire valve........

I will post my ideas eventually........ IM fairly exited becasue im making a .177 cal BB machine gun using a SNAP valve and i kinda want it semi-auto for those times where you want accuracy..........

Yeah. People will either refuse to get in vehicles, or will zoom off in them without checking if anyone else is nearby, meaning you have to spend ages walking around.

One of my favourite things to do against snipers is put C4 in their favourite sniping spot... then, it's the other way round entirely:
*Headshot*
*BOOM!*

It's fun to sneak into enemy bases and plant C4 on their vehicles. No-one ever checks to make sure what they're getting into isn't laced with plastic explosive - plane takes off... *BOOM*

When I'm not owning as a helicopter gunner, I spend a lot of my time being sneaky and going around blowing stuff up as a Spec Ops soldier.

@Jack: ...there is no JSR - *cue weird contortionist pose*

Thing is, when I read DYI's posts, I get these mental images of "spoonboy" building all kinds of odd launchers.

 thats a good tactic i can just imagine the 'WTF?!?!' look on their faces after being blown up. I wish i could do that but its imprctical whilst sniping for obvious reasons (lack of CQB gun except the desert eagle, lack of C4 because i use claymores etc.)

This topic is very interesting! If i remember well, i proposed a piston full auto design a while back. It worked, was simple to build. here is the link :

http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/fullaut ... t7939.html

It works fine, doesn't misfire. why didn't you guys read old topics

Did you actually build it?

AHHH!!! Captain Law thats how the automatic Nerf guns work!!!!!

I gotta be honest that works pretty dang well. you can even make the piston part close the bolt itself...............

I havent built one, but ive used the Nerf Automatic valve in a ghetto airsoft gun. I got 20 RPS at about 200 FPS. Not powerful enough but the RPS was pretty astounding.

As of now im trrying to install a stronger spring inside the nerf one so that i can encase it with epoxy and possibly get some more power out of it. because, honestly, i dont feel like making perfect air-seals. although i might.................

yeah i know it's how it works...i thought of the design, and then i asked myself how the big red and blue nerf gun of mine would shoot; i unmounted it, and saw that a similar design was inside. Ingenious...

Yes, i did build one like this, with the piston part and axe moving; so that the cylinder part and barrel assembly was immobile.
