Is there any exception to the "no posting of shooting animals" rule? like say talks about legally hunting an animal with a license, only using a homemade spud gun? (I saw the exception stating someting about legal paintball use) I tried searching the forums for mentions of this but didnt find anything.

There are NO exceptions, except for the legal field use of airsoft or paintball markers that have been approved by the site marshals.

Spudguns are highly imprecise, and have poor terminal ballistics. The chances you'll make a successful and humane "kill shot" are very slim. More likely you'll miss entirely, or hit badly and leave the poor thing in pain until you either find some other way to finish it off, or worse, it limps off injured.

Sorry, no exceptions. We can't stop you shooting animals with your spudguns (although I implore you not to), but you're not allowed to discuss it here. I'll admit to taking a few pot shots at squirrels when I was rather less responsible (the results of which I will not discuss), but I wouldn't do it now, except in extenuating circumstances.

In fact, I'm not even sure you can legally hunt with a spudgun, even with a hunting licence, without the launcher having been certified, etc, etc...

right on.. Until I read your response, I didnt see much of an issue with the whole subject. But your explanation makes sense. And while on the subject, does anybody know the actual laws on using a spudgun for hunting? I havn't built one capable of even trying, but I am curious. And if I do build one, you will only see or hear about me shooting old sheets of glass (I am a framer and come across a lot of used windows) or other non-living objects...

Not a real problem, it's not always immediately obvious why some rules are in place, but there are good reasons behind them.

I'm not absolutely certain on the laws dictating it, because for one thing, I'm not a US citizen, but they are probably covered like muzzle loading rifles. I have also heard they would need to be registered for the the purpose.

This is totaly a 'No Hunting Zone'! You jook13, said you read the rules, what didn't you understand, what was confusing about them?

As for use of spudguns for hunting, you have to check local laws for what "arms" are and are not allowed.

Welcome to Spudfiles.

the only thing on here that i notcied that got alloud, was i think Chaos shot a fish, basicly it was a carp (peseant in australia) when you catch them in fishing, you must kill tem, your not alloud to put them back, dont ask its weird, but what he did was probably better, (shot it through the head with a high powered rifle which was homemade) because it was a fast death, most people just leave them on the banks to sufficate.

But other then that, there is no exceptions that i know off.

Oh yes...great memories.

Every summer, a hoard of wasps-or yellow jackets, i cant tell the difference..-, come to by back yard to nest. About 3-5 nests built each year. After by first pneumatic i decided to plow them out, since the insectecides didn't work. I made some "cluster" packages and took a couple shots. Apparantly, they were pissed at the time, so i had to hose them all down when they came chasing after me.

Does this mean I'm not allowed to hunt my mother in law??

Hell...I just won;t discuss it!!

( just in case you are an idiot, I 'm only joking and strongly oppose hunting with home made weapons)

it should be legal to hunt your mother inlaw, as long as she is wearing a fur coat and antlers and running through the woods.
