Gun setup question

Would this setup decrease fps? I was thinking of having a 4" resevior then reducing it to a 1 inch with sprinkler valve and then going to 2" for the barrel. THis would be cheaper than getting a 2" valve.

This has been covered many times, but I'll humor you. Sprinkler Valves reduce air flow because of their shape and more importantly their size. The 1 inch section causes a bottleneck. Its like pouring a bottle of water out through a tiny hole, making the hole bigger lets more air through.

you can go with a sprinkler valve but i would suggest a 2" ball valve for a cannon of that size :D

To tell the truth, it depends appon the specific launcher setup. I suggest downloading the GGDT (check the wiki) and running some numbers... I can be contacted at boilingleadbath via AIM if you need some tech support.

What in the hell do you mean it wont affect the FPS? It has EVERYTHING to do with the velocity. Idiot...

A 2" sprinkler has roughly four times the flow of a 1" sprinkler valve. Depending on how long your barrel is, your velocity with a 1" valve could be (very roughly) cut into a fourth of that of a 2" valve.

So is a 2" sprinkler is worth the extra cash if you want a big improvement in velocity or is the improvement not worth it? 4x the flow sounds quite impressive. Does anyone have solid figures?(Not pulled outta their ass)
Someone who has a chrony shopuld do some tests to see the improvement.

No one bothers to get figures off of stuff like that because 2" sprinklers are so expensive. It's much more worth your time to make a piston valve instead, and we all know a piston valve is MUCH more powerful than a sprinkler valve anyday.

You got it. Or get a mauler valve! :P

Thats it, buy a Mauler valve. Then give us some feedback on how good it works.

Ya get or build a piston valve, then make them sprinkler valve actuated.
