looks cool, but what are those parts? :D

DYI are you building a super high pressure pump? :P

Made the first real progress on my cart hybrid on friday :) not much at all but it's a start. Along with some testing after installing a high volume, over barrel suppressor. I see why jack loves these things! My neighbors probably hate me a bit less now too lol.

Full length suppressors *and* cartridges?

:D

Details on those wierd last tests hehe?

edit: peecture fix

yep :D

the second to last was a failed chamber I started making for a mini combustion with a paintball inside. Messed up my room too. And the last was 2 paintballs inside a suppressor I made for my pen gun that also failed. Was trying to figure out what exactly happened since the ball bearing blew a hole in the side yet I found the sabot inside the metal pot thing. Im pretty sure the ball bearing exited the tube while the plastic straw sabot kept going....and some how penetrated metal
:?:
edit: just saw the pic... lol

Nice RipStik, although I know you consciously left it there :D

Removed the electrodes from my M480 mk.II hybrid today because they started to move around a bit (must've knocked them and broke the epoxy at some stage) and found my chamber full of this weird powdery stuff. I assume it's left over remnants from the previous shot with the cannon which failed to burst the disks.

Oh dear... surely it's time for a proper spark plug?

I've got a proper one curing for my piston hybrid and I've re-epoxied the electrodes on this one (don't have a suitable fitting to tap for one of my other spark plugs).

I found these 10x1mm thread you can find that tap at bunnings.

ITWOS: My capacitor bank went live today, firing its first test discharge at 10kJ through a gram of 5:11 aluminum/water mix. No insulation, charging, or switching problems detected.

The final plan for GPEG is complete, and it should be built by early July. It has been modified slightly since the last time I posted on the topic to include an expansion seal on the center electrode, thus hopefully solving the leakage problem for good.

Also, the 50MHz crystal oscillator for the break-wire timer has been obtained (after about 6 months of failed attempts). The timer should be operational by early August, and then we'll finally get to see how accurate my muzzle speed guesstimates for WARTL were.

How can you say things like these without the accompanying dramatic media?

Probably went overboard on the thickness (10mm) but they're quite clear and don't seem to have much effect on picture quality:

edit: they're to shield my cameras while filming, if you were wondering.

Crowley,

I've also noticed carbon buildup in hybrid chambers. Long ago when I did the sealed 2" sch40 test, I noticed some grime on the walls, having put perhaps 20 'shots' through it at various mixes. Ye olde piston hybrid accumulated it to a lesser degree, just not as much as you've shown.

50 MHZ is not a common frequency. An easy to obtain frequency is 4, 8, or 16, which is easily divided to 1 Mhz reference for break wire clock. My time base for calibration checks is divided to 1 KHZ. Mechanical spacing error is orders of magnitude higher than the crystal 0.005%.
