has this valve been built?

hey i did not understand the hammer valves before Max told me.
i drew up a diagram of how i thought it was and i don't think someone has used it.
it also should have some decent flow for a paintball gun etc.

I was thinking about building a valve like that this morning weird you posted it first so I will give you the credit pretty cool design. You will need to have orings just below the air out hole in the pink thing one at the top of the pink thing and at the bottom of the pink thing.
Olny problem I can think of is that there might be too much flow meaning that the tank might drain too fast olny giving about 3 shots.
EDIT forgot to mention if you do make this you better have somthing to hold in the pink thing.

the problem with to much flow can be solved with a simple nozzle on ithe piston. and if you want to empty all the air at once you just takes the nozzle out and you get power :)

as i said it is a 2min diagram.

Flow problem can be solved in another way..

Imagine a massive hammervalve, with the stem continueing through the chamber and sticking out the front of the reservoir..

If you can get that stem to move and remain airtight smoothly, you can play around with difference in surface area.

You could open a much bigger hole with the same surface area as a normal hammervalve, being exposed to the pressure..

In this diagram, I can see that pink part flying out after applying pressure.
And ofcourse, you will need alot of force to hammer it in on larger designs.

The idea of BTB solved that.
The pink thing would continue on down trough the chamber and go out of the chamber again.
This makes force work out on the downside and neutralize some part of the upward force.

There's a much easier way to seal that though, that o-rings, which are never that good on a sliding system because of friction.

All you need to do is make both "ports" side-entry like the current exit port is. Then cap the end of the pink sliding valve with something greater in diameter than the hole it slides through.

You'll notice I've put entrance ports on both sides of the valve, which would imporve the flow, and made the exit port which is single sided, larger. The larger your "slide" the more air you can get through it, if you look at the entrance ports, they can be two slots cut almost all the way through the slide, This would mean a lot of air flow and also that it'd open fully, quickly.

It's only a rough diagram to give the idea, and obviously you'd play around so that the valve didn't choke the flow at all.
