A pneumatic.

It was a very odd design... it was a pressurised broom handle and the valve was a short plastic tube with one sealed end. Which was also the barrel.

Pushing the barrel further into the broom handle exposed holes cut into the side of the plastic tube and shot out the pencil or pen or whatever was in there.

I built my first gun about 16 years ago ( yeah I'm dating myself). It was a spray n pray....2'x4" chamber, 2'x2" barrel, with a match hole ignition.

I got burned a few times before it self combusted.....

I left it primed and loaded in the hot sun. It melted and caught on fire, I may still have it somewhere!

My first was a fanned, regulated, propane injected ABS combustion with a 0.7:1 C:B ratio and a ten foot barrel.
