other use for combustion type cannon

take a look at the attached video

This is a "rodenator" basically a propane / oxygen torch with a mixing valve and electronic ignition,it seems to me, or ??

I have a keen interest in making a combustion type gun, my question is what do you think about adding a "balloon" or similar to the end of the barrel to retain a proper mixture, poke it down Mr. Gophers hole and then "launch" him/her 200 yards out the other end.

I would think that a pneumatic would be a better tool to attempt this. You could better experiment with different pressure levels required. Also unless the gopher is hanging out pretty close to the other hole, I don't think you're going to be blowing him out of the hole. And if there is more than one other exit, it isn't going to work anyway.

Also, this is bordering on the whole discussing hunting living creatures no-no rules thing. Probably best to drop the subject....

Besides:
... poke it down Mr. Gophers hole and then "launch" him/her 200 yards out the other end.

Kind of Gives me a BAD san Fransisco vibe :P

EDIT: Anyway, why not just use a store bought smoke thing?
Also, Welcome to the forum!

A normal combustion cannon wouldn't have enough volume, and even if you used one that did, the method used in the actual product is more effective - in it, the combustion actually occurs inside the burrow, meaning that, as long as enough of the mix is pumped through the burrow, the overpressure is instantaneous, and immediately lethal.

In this case, the product works pretty much the way I'd design it, and I can't see any real opportunity for improvement, except perhaps the use of ethyne/hydrogen rather than propane, to cause immediate, sustained detonations.

Kind of Gives me a BAD san Fransisco vibe ...

Got it

I making a list of shop supplies to take with me to hardware store on Tuesday
I have seen several of these in years past but nothing as sophisticated as what you sport here got to have it !

Edit by MrC: Please read the above posts about the discussion of shooting animals...incase you didn't 'get the gist of things' or 'pick up their vibe', it's against the rules.
