hey, i know the limit here on the forum is 1/4" steel plate yet but i know that 1" will be taken soon.

i may be able to do 3/4" if i get on team with ragnarok and Larda to make a dart. so i wonder if that would be a world record for a homemade gas powered gun?
it would have been cool to get in guinesse record book with a spud gun and a hole in a 3/4" plate since the hobby may grow then.

ok enough of that i just wanted to talk a little. the thing i was going to ask for was the most impressive shot everybody have ever seen and heard of so i can send a letter to the guinesse and ask if it is possible to get in a book for something like that.
i know the braniac dude was there for the fastest shooting with a spray'n'pray and that is where i got the idea.

so what do you think and will someone be up for the challenge if i can't do it? i know larda and killjoy has a big chance to make it.

i have no high hopes for this i just think it will be cool if i get there and show my friends ETC since everybody ask (is it more powerfull than a sling shot?) lol

IDK the record for spuds. Here's a cool vid:

Orhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQtNgy_FqVI
Guy says "Did it blow up?" These .50BMG's go through sewer caps like butter.
I read a 5.56mm (.223 remington) will pierce 3/8" plate steel and 7.62Nato (.308winchester) will pierce 1/2".
So 1" penetration or even 1/4" is pretty good IMO.
1" steel penetration seems like cannon scale compared to that though!
...ok enough of that i just wanted to talk a little...
 Go for Guiness or just Ripley's is possible. Just a little "Talk" 8)

If you set that record spudfarm, I will have to beat it.
I'm sure FEAR could break it with a proper sabot and ammo.

that video shows the power of a .50.

i hope someone can get through 3/4" plate soon. i have broken the energy levels of a .50 now but the projectile will be hard to make.

i leave that to larda:P

If you really want to make an impression, find a derelict APC and go through the side armour, usually around half an inch or so.

i have a 1/2" hardened steel plate now.. it would not be to easy to find a defect tank around here :P (tank? :S )

mabe i should just max it out with a thin tungsten penetrator and try 1" i did 1/4" with a pretty fat penetrator at 3x so a hard tungsten dart that has 4times as high pressure should go through 1"

Are you going for KE rounds like a Saboted tungsten dart for the record, or would you allow a HEAT style projectile. Oh wait I don't think talk of that matter is allowed on here is it?

i can tell how i see the round infront of my eyes..

it is a 7mm thick 10cm long tungsten penetrator with a perfect angle for penetration. it has no fins it just sits in a 2" long 4.2cm wide teflon case and is going to be fired at point blank at a 11x mix on a 1" or 3/4" plate with a 1/2" plate as a backstop to look if it still had some energy left.

got it?

Some guys have all the luck!
But, $7.00+ per round...I'd ask for my money back on the one that got stuck! :P 8)

Those guys should watch out for riccochets.
Scariest plinking of my life, when I shot a tree with a black powder revolver and saw a gray streak flying back. So I turned my face very quick and saw the bullet hit my friends shirt sleeve. WHOOSH! I thought it went through his arm but it was only the shirt sleeve!

I think not, besides that would have bugger-all to do with the cannon and everything to do with the fact you chucked a shaped charge at the target :P

I won't hold my breath for that to get a hole in it. But still, hardened could be anything.

Haha $415 to fire a 5 round magazine

Stupid quote of the now:
joestue "The chamber is rated to 100 psi, it don't say that on the side, but the 2 inch stuff is rated to 300, so by analogy..."
"only the last two feet hear the end is black cellular core"
"I'm taking it to 300 psi"
