As you get older, you will find that your serious hobbies will tend to cost you serious money. They are designed that way...big toys for big boys etc etc.
Spend as much as you want to, as long as your primary $$ commitments are being met. I also recommend buying spud materials in bulk whenever you can, 10' sections of PVC, extra couplers and reducer bushings, large cans of cement/primer etc. It's always cheaper that way and you'll have some things when the urge hits to create something, chances are you have a good portion of the raw materials lying around and possibly save a few trips to the hardware store.

The Hardware store(Rona) is at 2 streets of me, only takes 5 minutes of walking to get there
Evryones know me there and they sometimes give me free things because i go there 2 times a week.
An advantage to buy often...

I've spent quite a bit since Sophomore year. I haven't ever totaled it all up but I'd say well over 1,200 USD. All of it is distributed on a wide range of launchers, though.

It doesnt suck up money, you spend money on it. And how much that is, is determined by what you want to accomplish.
It can be free (ghetto guns from garbage and household materials) or rediculously expensive (200X hybrids, pipe dreams etc.) , you decide.

i am lurking for the social part of throwing in a post in the topics that doesn't relate directly to look at a cannon, but only to voice my opinion and not get forgotten 100%.
and when you take the picture in consideration and think that it was done with a $1500 gun (yes i did use more money on it) you can think like DYI, the gun does not have to cost so much and you does not need to replace boards on your house if you made a small $40 combustion.

I'd say I've spent at least that. Everything starts out simple enough, then I can't stop myself with adding details. Its amazing when I think about it because I am VERY tight with my money, but when it comes to my hobbies (cannons and atvs) I spare no expense.

Yeah me too, probably more like $2k in the last year or so. That does include some tools and support stuff. I do have lots of PVC and spare parts around though. Not sure I will spend that much throughout the next year. I've got a couple of ideas I'm kicking around so I'm sure there will be some bursts of spending down the road.
On that note....whatever happened to the cannon contest?
