Ok, outside floyd lamb state park in las vegas, they are building houses. So I went to the end of the park, where there is a one of those HUGE trash cans( the 40 foot long, 10 feet tall ones), and all around it there are smaller trash cans full of metal fittings and pipe(it is 3 1/2 feet tall, 2 feet wide trash can) and it is filled to the top with old fittings and pipe covered in dirt and hard mud(hard as hell to get off) But underneath that, there is a little rust, but that is all good. The fittings are from 1/4 inch up to 8 inch. there is also pipe up to about 15 inch diameter steel pipe. I got a Trashbag full of Pipe and fittings today(about 35-40 pounds of fittings and pipe ) And tommorrow I will be getting more . It was like waking up on christmas morning. Truly any spudguners dream. And frankrede, Since you live by there you should check it out too, I bet you will not take a trip to a hardware store for months.

Nice find Blind.

BTW, your little "You live near" location finder doesn't work very well. Tonight it's telling me St. Louis... Hopefully you won't mind me saying so, but those things are actually a little annoying.

Nope, its 8 feet long, and over 50 LBS, Oh, and I also found a 1000 gallon(not a typo) Tank, that has 6 ports(2 inch NPT) and is rated for 260 psi. I also took a 1/4 inch ball valve, and I have just make a mini golf ball gun with some of the parts. It has a metal barrel(the same sixe as a golfball) about 5 inches long, a 1/2 inch chamber, 4 inches long(steel), and A 1/2 inch ball valve(dont comment on the ball valve as my firing valve), And tommorrow it will be painted chrome(got some nice chrome spraypaint)

Its because they dig up old pipe and fittings, and when they build the new houses and they get pipe/fittings free, so they just throw away the old ones. And I went again today and got some 3 1/2 inch pipe(3.5 feet long), and two 3 1/2 inch compression fittings, and some 3/4 inch Steel pipe, a 1 inch close niple(brass), a 1 inch COPPER tee(wierd, it looks exactly like a steel sch. 40 one, and it is treaded, and is just as thick as a sch. 40 steel one) a 1 1/4 inch tee and a 1 1/2 inch tee, some 1 1/2 inch couplings, and some other things.

I say sell some of the large copper stuff, you'll get a pretty penny for it. But you better be able to tell where it came from. Over the last year a guy in Austin was electrocuted trying to steal copper from a substation. Knocked out the power for a good day.
