Since the rod is buried in the PVC, not cemented on top of the strip, I see no reason to think that the odds are much better the flame will equally choose to propagate through the bottom side as well as the top side.

I'm actually giving the whole spark strip concept more thought and may present something here in a few days.

Im running into problems... I'm using an electric AAA battery powered igniter and if I'm correct the steel spark strip is going to give off too much resistance for the spark's to be quite effective if at all. I'm looking into locating some copper rod which might work. Dunno... I like the idea of a stun gun, its just is very very ugly IMO unless you encase it into a hobby box. My ignitor was going to be conceiled completely into one of my handles with the switch conveniently placed at your index finger.

I just drew up an idea of a spark strip. It would be a 1"x 14" strip of plastic with a 1"x14" segmented piece of copper on each side consisting of 1/4" gaps between each piece of rectangular copper. It would have the postive/negetive pols on each side using #6 3"bolts to reach the approximate center of the chamber. The spark would occur on each side of the strip and arc sparks around the girth of it creating a long rod of pure electric fun! :P

This strip isn't going to work like you think it will. The spark will decide to take one side or the other but not both. Also, 1/4" gaps are way too large in a multigap system. You'll need to keep the sum of all gaps smaller that the "saftey" gap on the stun gun itself. Keep your gaps as small as possible. A large gap doesn't provide any advantage.
