Its not really that sweet if a mouse fart is coming out of your gun, because that means that you have a mouse stuck in your barrel, and firing it would be against forum rules, and would have PETA on your door step in nanoseconds, armed with truckloads of pig blood...

Suppressors which reduce power are usually integral ones, like the one on the MP5SD which is designed to take normally supersonic 9mm bullets and slow then down to subsonic levels.

A test I had done with my Daystate with the Airstream CF suppressor fitted not only gave it the sound signature of the proverbial flatulent rodent but the muzzle velocity actually increased by an average of 15 feet per second.

Don't know, I've heard rodent farts before. Had a guinea pig break wind on one occasion, which is a very disturbing sound.

Ah, but proverbial rodents tend to be above the ridiculous constraints of reality ;)

My dog's are surprisingly quiet...

i would hate to have a 'mouse-fart' silencer though because then you don't get the cool suppressor sound 8)

Oh dear, we've degenerated into a discussion about animal flatus.
Could be worse I suppose, at least we're not summoning flaming pink elephants.

Proverbial they may be. Still doesn't make it an entirely accurate metaphor. Rodent flatulence tends to be considerably more prolonged than the sound of the typical "Hollywood silencer", and rather less appealing.
Indeed, in said case, the rodent in question was returned to it's cage. It is still speculated that it wasn't the guinea pig that broke wind, and it was just an excuse on the part of the person holding it at the time, but the reports are unproven. :tongue3:

Just thought i should let you guys know, I just put my JANET silencer on my .177 pump air rifle.....

Its SICK! The firing makes a "click" and all you hear is the "whizzzzzzz!" of the pellet flying twoards the target. If you hit something weired theres even riccoshet noises.

Basically, Im making a silencer for my air rifle. Its just too frikkin cool........

I think the most challenging part of making an airgun silencer is actually attaching it to the airgun. I usually get a threaded insert made and then build the silencer around it, if your barrel isn't threaded then you can either find a pipe which fits around it or make an epoxy cast, either way you can easily hold it in place with a grub screw.

I just tried....

I cant get the threads on the silencer to line up straight with the barrel. No matter WHAT i do......

Im going to go out and buy some legip parts, and start from there. And some epoxy.... Ill be needing it..........
