.69-.71 Depending on your paint-to-bore match.
Generally, the closer to .69, the better, as you need a tight fit with room for paintball moisture expansion. I used sch 120 pvc. works great.

Yes, metal is even better because it is less affected by CO2 temperature, unlike pvc. Go for it!

I remember seeing a metal pipe on Mcmaster that had really good dimensions for a paintball barrel, for a good price, but I lost the link.

Good luck!

I am pretty sure the paintball industry uses 0.68" ID 0.75" OD aluminum hydraulic tubing. You can buy 6' off McMaster.com for like $15 (part #89965K62). I use this tubing on my paintball guns, and I think it works great.

That's the tubing I mentioned, thanks for the item number, velocity. I have not heard of an "industry standard" before... do you mean for the valve and breach assembly, or the actual barrel?

Many brands sell barrel packs with different sized barrels to swap out for better paint-to-barrel match, as field paint varies in quality.

I always use 3/4 inch cpvc for paintball barrels, it works great, and is VERY cheap, you don't even need many fittings.

At any rate, what is this for? any hints for a nice new paintball gun?

I'm designing a single shot sniper rifle with my uncle. This will bring a few challenges when playing the game as you will have to be like the sniper. You will have to hide better as you don't have the rate of fire. I plan to have it really accurate as well. Hence metal engineering the barrel.
So this going to be a fun project.
as i said when its all said and done ill post some pics and everybodys favorite of corse damage pics!

thanks

Bubba
