I'm up for a Piston Pneumatic Competition, because thats what I'm working on and I don't want to start another gun in the midst of building this one.

I'm down! I have a few things up my sleeve.

Sounds good. Will there be classes of cannons? I've got a functional small antenna launcher up my sleeve. Just finished performance testing this morning.

Last time around the they were divided basically as per the showcase section, then the best of each class was put to a separate vote to decide the overall winners.

I will be glad to host the competition, as i never enter them. A award can be paypal based, people need to contribute for it to work. Does it sound ok to everyone if i run it?

I think it would be better to have no specific category, rather what the people like the best. I do not think it should be split into pneumatic.combustion, hybrid, etc. categories for two reasons.
1) People are inclined to one more than the the others. This is balanced by the community.
2) smaller prize =)

Oh great.

You're just making this even worse than it was to begin with now.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

If you split it then it makes it fair rp181.

Say two of the best entries were a 400x hybrid built by a very skilled machinest and alot of $$ and a very well built standard combustion built by joe bloggs, who would get the votes?

I vote for showcase sections as classes and a theme (not realistic weapons)

Yea I would definately love a competition, just give everyone a good amount of time. I agree with Carl, but am not quite sure if we should have a theme...

If I remember correctly, PCGUY said that if it's money based and hosted on this forum, he has to run it. So to answer your question, no. :)

I was hoping for another favourite cannon of the site election... :D

Kay...so.
Enddate is June first..Competition starts NOW.
No further discussions, no prizes for now, just the honour and a way for the new guys to present yourself.
You can not enter your own cannon. Two other members must nominate it for entry.Of course you can post your cannons in the section it belongs, just mention 2009 competition in your title.

I like the theme thing.
Theme is : all entries must contain a new concept.Wether it's a new kind of bolt, new kind of valve, new kind of material, new kind of ignition or new kind of ammo.
It doesn't matter.A never before seen combination is okay too.
If it's concept has been discussed here before, it's okay, as long as nobody's built the thing...

If the thing has nothing new on it, but looks damn good, it's not accepted.
Time to build those ideas you proposed earlier, but never got around to!

Then just not have it money based... Its as simple as that, but my suggestion would be to talk to PCGuy and maybe have a SpudBux reward.
