Ok, I was just curious as to what others think of this hobby. When i mean others I mean your parents, kids, friends, spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, co-workers etc. I just thought I'd start this thread just becaquse I'm curious 8)
Anyway, because I started this topic I guess I'll start it off. My parents have different views on my spudding hobby, my mom desn't like it, and my dad supports it, he drives me to the hardware store and gives me advice, while my mom just scowels when I show her my newest instrument of destruction :D My sister is indifferent. Most of my friends think it's cool, but don't really seem interested, but I have one friend that is kinda interested, but has never made a spuddy (though he plays airsoft) Anyway, I hope you respond to this thread because I am interested to hear what yall have to say!

my girlfriend hates it cause she says i spend more time working on cannons and playing with them than i spend with her. my dad thinks its cool and gives me ideas. i have a few friends that have spudded some but just have crappy spray and pray combustion's. In general people think its pretty cool but not interested enough to really get into it.

- My parents are cool with it
- My brother thinks I'm weird, but doesn't turn down the chance for a shot;
- And my friends are sort of half amazed/half terrified by it. Sort of "Whoa, cool, but let me stand back over here while you do it."

... but I've still managed to get about 3 or 4 of them into the hobby (if at simple levels).

It looks easier from the inside.

From the outside, you're someone firing a very large gun with a very loud report and causing significant damage to targets you hit.

You need a certain degree of acclimatisation and a certain mindset to want to get closer or for that matter to even think about making one yourself.

Not everyone will really dig it and even if shown - "right heres two fittings and two bits of pipe, wallah, a spudgun!" they won't take to it.

my neighbors are always asking where i get the "plans" and i say that there are none but some dont belive me.

My parents are okay with it, my friends think it's awesome. Pretty much anyone I show my spudgun to are amazed (and the less technically inclined stand in awe of the engineering skills required to build a ball valve gun). if only I could find the time and money to build that piston valver...

I haven't seen much opposition to my hobby.

Parents doesn't care really, my mom just say be carefull or don't tear down the house. my dad is just as amazed every time i show him steel plates with holes in.

My friends don't really care, i sold one gun to a guy one time and he had lots of fun.
Then i have a neighbor that thought my hybrid was awesome and brutal and that i had to call him when i was going to shoot it.

then i have another neighbor that called the cops because i walked a lawnmower 300m on the road to another house and with that you should understand what he tinks of my cannon.. he is acctually a murderer to.
