Discussion of solid propellants, explosive devices or incendiary projectiles fired specifically from a spud cannon is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account. For the purpose of this forum, these definitions will be used:
Solid propellant: Any substance containing all the chemical elements required to enable sustained combustion without the presence of additional oxidizers. This includes but is not limited to gunpowder, thermite, and many commercial and/or homemade pyrotechnic compounds.
For this purpose, nitroglycerine, though liquid, would qualify.
For this purpose, ordinary flour, though solid, would not qualify.
Explosive device: Any device that has the capability to release large amounts of stored energy rapidly.
Discussion of fireworks as projectiles is prohibited.
Discussion of "soda bottle bombs" or any other similar devices that may cause shrapnel as a result of uncontrolled rupture is prohibited.
Incendiary projectile: Any projectile that is capable of producing flame.
Rocket propelled projectiles, pyrotechnic smoke bombs, or any other burning projectiles would qualify as an incendiary projectile.
Since there are some people who don't bother to read the rules or follow them, I'm gonna put this topic up once and for all.

ANY DISCUSSION OF DANGEROUS PROJECTILES, i.e. EXPLOSIVE OR OTHERWISE INCENDIARY, WILL BE TERMINATED.

A lot of people wonder why spudguns are frowned upon, and it's because of stuff like that. When we discourage this kind of discussion, it's not because we don't want you to have fun. Spudgunning is all about fun! It's just that when you mess with explosives, it adds a whole new dimension of danger to this.

Take for example TATP. I'm not going to tell you what it is, because if you don't know what it is, chances are you shouldn't be messing with it. Some numbskull will decide to make this (the process of which is terribly dangerous in and of itself) and put it in a PVC rocket. Now 1 of 2 things can happen.

The TATP will spontaneously decompose and explode while being stored or loaded or when fired. It's very sensitive stuff and EXTREMELY powerful. Said numbskull gets his arm blown off or worse. Potato guns are made illegal because someone decided to do something stupid and got hurt or killed. 1 moron spoils it for everybody.

Second scenario. Projectile fires without problem (which would be damn near impossible, since TATP is very sensitive to shock). It hits someone's house. Bingo. Domestic terrorism/arson. The government won't give a rat's flying hindquarters what you meant. Arson is a FELONY in most states regardless of whether a fire is started. Arson is constituted by either fire or explosions. Plus you would be in possession of an explosive, which is grounds to warrant a terrorist investigation. More negative attention for spudchuckers globally.

So do us all a favor, and don't talk about it. Chances are that someone will get the idea to try it and do it, so we have to be vigilant, as this is a fun hobby, so long as it is done responsibly.

I ask any member who sees discussion of this nature to PM a mod with a link to the thread in question. I will be on these forums more, to those of you who remember me (PCGUY, jrrdw and the like). [/quote]

I agree, maybe you forgot to add that it doesn't just put a bad light on spud gunning overall, but the question where the hell a little "numbskull" got the idea of packing any explosive, regardless if arm strongs, TATP, AP or what ever they decide would be cool, into a spudgun. And sooner or later spudfiles will be found. Not only will the numbskull ruin the practical part of spudgunning in his area, the moron will possibly ruin the greatest collection of information on the topic thus distroying large parts of the theoretical part, and that globally.

On another note: I don't know you, yet, however your wording of the post and the fact that you are an obviously experienced member make me urged to welcome you back and to wish you some happy spudding!

I hope this post will prevent more pyromaniac pimple faced skater kids from trying to impress their friends. Back in the day i would of sent them to roguesci, and a week or two later i could have a good laugh at their stupidity...

Just as a point of accuracy... The ATF lost the lawsuit. As of early this year AP is no longer classified as an explosive.

No shit.

Just out of curiousity, what is it classified as now?

The fact of the matter remains that it is an extremely dangerous compound. You wouldn't go and launch barrels of ANFO out of a massive cannon, so why would you do it with TATP and a spudgun?

Then again D_Hall, with your line of work I wouldn't be surprised if you did the latter. :thumbleft:

Also, thanks for the welcome back jrrdw. Good to see some of the oldies but goodies are still around!

And John, spudding wishes are much appreciated!

Damn it's good to be back. :D

:D :D :D :D

. Actually, you could probably launch barrels of ANFO out of a huge cannon, given that it is a tertiary explosive. But enough talk of this. That might get me in trouble since I am at a library and there is this newiWatch thing.
