Whacking sheet metal with a hammer makes a good dent....change the design by using multiple hits...or a different hammer. :)

wyz,

The HW 97 is a fantastic rifle from the factory. A Vortek kit and lube tune at most...don't muck with the barrel. A fellow purchasing an HW97 would not have any regrets...unless he passed up a TX200 to get the HW.

Lube tune does NOT mean fill it with grease.

A tx200 is almost 600 euro...
I just want a rifle that can take down small targets at 50m, before I get a pcp. The hw is more expensive than the hammerli but very easy to sell in case I want to have my money back. Do you know anything about the hammerli? My friend has one and actually I made a 2 cm group at 10m free hand standing.

I bought mine brand new for almost that same amount.

Barrel length on springers is not such an issue, indeed very easily fitting a longer barrel will reduce power. Mine does 13 ft/lbs with 8 grain JSBs.

Shooting supported, I can hit a 1" diameter target regularly at 50 yards with my HW97K. Needs practice though, as with almost all springers it's sensitive to the way you hold it.

The Hammerli looks suspiciously like the Tech Force TF99: http://airgun-academy.pyramydair.com/bl ... le-part-1/

Chinese crap, absolutely nothing to do with Weihrauch build quality.

It is most certainly not built by *the* Swiss Hämmerli company: http://haemmerli.info/en/home.html

I've got the Hämmerli (hunter force 900 combo) and it's a pretty nice plinker for the money. I've managed 1cm groups at 25 meters with JSB exact 4.52 pellets.
It is not comparable to the hw97k in any way, especially the trigger can start to bug.
Also has a lot of roughly finished parts, and a pretty thin blueing.

So, get a weihrauch if you have the money :D

That's the problem, I have the money, but I probably won't keep the gun for a long time so I don't mind save some money for other stuff....

If you're not going to keep it for a long time, i'd recommend the Hämmerli :D
I can make some pictures if you want..

if I were in possession of a 50-meter shooting range I would gladly do so :D

Right now the best I have is about 12 meters.

It actually looks good  any details about the breech and trigger? Also how is the lever locked? With a push bottom like the hw97k or just a plastic slot?

It has a sliding breech, like the hw97k. Anti-beartrap lever is located behind the trigger.
It has an automatically engaging safety, located in front of the trigger.
Lever is locked in place by an adjustable ball detent.

The trigger is the largest downside of this gun, limiting accuracy. It's fairly heavy, and doesn't have a second stage. You just pull the trigger slowly, you can only guess when it'll shoot :D

Hum, thanks.
How is the power? The hw97k has 24j of muzzle energy supposedly
