So....how is the lid being held on? Presuming the contents are to be readable assessable.

An engineer friend of mine approached me with a problem, he has a very small cold thing that he needs to keep cold and be able to keep in a shirt pocket, so basically I came up with a miniature thermos :)

Not a very good photo but............
I made my first involute gear, milled from 22mm HDPE stock
12 minutes from start to finish and very pleasing result.

Stand by for a whole lot of gear driven loading magazine, I'm thinking a drum magazine with a gear profile on the outside driven by a stepper motor to index it.

A long winter ahead in the shed

Radiant heat is a problem for plastic. Near IR finds most plastic transparent. Far IR varies. To solve the IR problem lacking a vacuum deposition tool to do an aluminum film. Coat the inside surfaces in the vacuum space with a cut up Mylar Balloon. The aluminized mylar is an IR reflector and will greatly enhance the R value of the vacuum space.

Carefully select your material. Most plastics are somewhat gas and or water permeable. Your outer shell may collapse due to the vacuum on the inside if it is too thin or subject to a gentle hand squeeze resulting in shape distortion.

Yeah I tried to explain this, the guy wants to fill it with aerogel and is convinced that it will do the trick but in reality it won't be any better than vacuum. It's sealed shut now, maybe I can get some mylar into the storage compartment.

Mylar, really? Granted it takes some time before it needs to be pulled off of pinball play fields but these machines are indoors and in climate controlled areas, and the light is artificial.

Look up thermal imaging. Body heat and anything above the bottle contents temperature will radiate heat into the container. The aluminum film blocks the radiant heat.

It's somewhat like the shiny bubble wrap solar reflectors people put in the windshield to keep parked cars cooler in the sun.

It is why solar glass windows most often have metallic layers to block IR.

Dark sunglasses are transparent to IR.

Sooooo... After some problems and alot of time, i now have my very own custom 22xx originally from crosman :D Still missing some trigger tuning, valve modding, a stock and large silencer!

Image

Tried the stock idea with piece of 20mm dia delrin rod and piece of wood, desing looks pretty good i think (and pretty comfy with higher scope rings)
