They're usually considered free, you salvage them from refrigerators that people have thrown out

If you get them from a scrap yard, how are they guanteed to work? or do you just hope for the best,

I always wondered can you connect a fridge compressor to a tire chuck just like a normal compressor

are they hard to modify ?

You don't modify it... It's already a compressor lol

I just put a switch on mine and all you have to do is attach a threaded part to the tube that comes off it.

it will reach 1000 :) but don´t do that very often
Before you solder a quick connect on the output, make sure you solder a bleed valve on it first.

How will I know what and where the output is? Is it the only copper pipe sticking out?

Do you need a bleed valve ? Does lowes carry them?

jsefcik, if you don't know what any of this is, you probably aren't ready for it. Stick with shock pumps, and when you understand this stuff a bit more, then aim for the fridge compressor.

you turn the damn thing on and the tube that's blowing air is the output...
...the one that's sucking air in is the input :D

also the input tube is often larger than output tube
