:D

My guitarplaying has improved somewhat since the first attempt at a SF song..

And I figured out how to use a free online multitrack recorder ( with some effect!!) to turn it into a real song.

All of it's me
Just my voice, my acoustic guitar and some effects...recorded by the mic of my webcam... :D
I hope you like it and possibly use it in your own video's.

Just use a Youtube to MP3 converter and stick it in your vid.

Maybe some smart fellar here knows how to convert and download it as a ringtone??
That would be uber-cool..

Anyway...here's the " vid" ( it's all about the music though)
Use headphones if your computer is like mine...you'll miss all of the bassnotes...

I think the SpudFiles theme song needs more powerchords, pick harmonics and high-speed percussion.

Very well done though, I commend you.

EDIT: And since you seem to know something about recording on a laptop, do you have any idea how to prevent the buzzing that occurs when I try to record something that's too loud? Can I turn down the microphone gain or something?

Can I turn down the microphone gain or something?
If your using Windows: Control Panel>Sound>Recording Tab>Select Microphone>Properties>Levels Tab and adjust accordingly.

Get a better sound card

Have you tried the noise reduction in Audacity? You need a bit of recording with no noise except the buzzing, select the area and Audacity will try and remove it from the entire track. Edit: Hmm, perhaps it wont work now that I've listened to that video. Think it's a sound card problem.

Laptops have crap sound cards, you can get relatively cheap (<$50) external sound cards or tuners that perform well.

I'd recommend the same to BtB if he wants the song to mix better. Something like this could be had for cheap if found on eBay since they're not made anymore. It would allow you to record vocals separately with the use of a second-hand dynamic microphone in your sound studio (make a small kids fort using some chairs and a thick blanket) and also record any guitar parts (it would help if the guitar was electric-acoustic and could be plugged in to an amp instead of recorded using the mic.)

Haha..I might try a cleaner version sometime.
Right now I'm amazed at what I managed to do with nothing but an acoustic guitar and my voice, through a frikkin' webcam mic...

:D

makes it sound like a live band recording in the 60's.......

I thought it would be best to make the themesong a bit funny and lightweight...
It should represent the site and I think it shouldn't be too dark..

And yeah..I get the metal-powerchord thing...I used to play a lot of it myself...
But I think all should be balanced ( like my valve :D )
A cheerful happy song to go with some heavy damage...
Much more impact...

I always hate those guys that, for instance, make a vid about some crappy 50cc bike and then add some speedmetal to make it moar awsome..

Oh and the lyrics are like this;
If you like big cannons,
You like to build them too...
You spend your nights on Spudfiles:
I'm just like you...

cause I'm a Spudfiler baby...
I'm a patatocannon-man...

I got myself a motto:
Spudguns for life!

Can someone please explain this hobby to my wife?!?!
'cause I'm a Spudfiler baby!!
I'm a patatocannon-man...

'till the day I'm dying I will keep them 'tators flying 'cause I can!!

If you like pneumatics,
you like combustion too,...
build yourself a hybrid
That's what I'd do,

Cause I'm a Spudfiler baby!!!
And so on...

I'm pretty sure this is what I have, my computer actually doesn't have a sound card as it turns out, just the onboard Realtek chip. So... does it suck? I know nothing of these things.

I thought it was great as is. It has an old jazzy feel to it that I like and seems like it was recorded a long time ago and that adds to its character. Well done Brian.
If you guys want something more "powerful" just listen to some screaming death metal, crank your speakers and in the middle of the song just scream "POTATO!!! POTATO!!!"

I'm a metalhead, but I must +1 that.

RealTek drivers are good, I use them on my other computer. It's more likely then not the onboard microphone. Does your computer have a mic jack? If so get a better mic and try it.
