Ohh sorry forgot a link

SMD - surface mount device

Been experimenting with them now that I have a soldering station. Some parts are so tiny I would probably need a shot of vodka or some tranquillizer to stop my hands from shaking. Though it's still cheaper to just buy a ready made module manufactured in china than to buy the parts and assemble them yourself.

Let the Chinese children do the work, their time is less valuable than mine :)

lol yeah though normally it is assembled by pick and place machines and then it goes to solder ovens.. only THT parts are soldered by human... so overall it's mostly automated

Just to give you an idea of how small things can get - the pressure sensor I recently bought, the IC itself, is 1.2 X 5 X 5mm in size
https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Com ... 000-05.pdf

ohh and here is an accelerometer that can withstand 4000g

Again pretty darn small. I wonder if this is the part they used to make those arrows equipped with an accelerometer

EDIT
naaah... found it - it is the ADXL346

This model is rated to 10 000g
