You guys are awesome. I know what i'm going to be doing today... Potato Gun Research. Shhhh don't tell the wife

What we decided is a simple but strong Air Powered non piston cannon for season 2. Then season 3 we step it up again. I Love the help you guys are giving.

Thanks Again

Also do i need more psi than 120? What is a nice destructive range when dealing with air?
I forgot to answer this. All my high power shots are 100 PSI and below. You need high flow. With proper flow, high pressure is not needed.

This empty can was shot at a steel plate. Pressure was only 100 PSI.

Oh my goodness that is one awesome potato gun. Like i said the show if it takes off will need to stay fresh over the seasons. We can do that by adding new things like switching up the guns making the bigger and better. We can't go all out right away.. But with your help guys we should be able to produce a good show as time goes on..

Side Not will this work... 2" barrel 3' long. 4" chambers 2' long. 1.5" sprinkler valve in between. Schrader valve and Psi Valve drilled into the chamber on the side.

Would you suggest battery powered to open the valve.
Or do the Valve modification. Are they equal in speed or does the modification open the valve more quickly? I'm just reading up on this info now as i type...

Now my brother inlaw works at an irrigation company and says he has up to a 3"valve. So then should i go 2" valve with the two inch barrel? or go to 3? I'm sorry for all the questions. Yes i have a potato gun show but still a noob in regards to all these new things
Thanks

Bigger valve = better flow, if you can get you hands on a 3" go for it. Removing the solenoid and actuating it with a better valve will give you noticably better performance.

Yes go for the 3" solenoid valve. Despite it's sizing nomenclature, it really has the equivalent flow of a smaller piston valve. The exact size I don't know as that would depend on the Cv of the valve - but your probably looking at around 2" piston valve equivalent performance out of a 3" sprinkler valve.

While your at it, go for two 3" sprinkler valves and a portable air tank as a chamber :D Your gonna need more than good editing and acting to impress spudfiles lol. That or drive up to Philadelphia and I'll pretty much give you my "10 gallon" gun lol.

...Not sure if it's the mushrooms and ecstasy I just took, or if I'm actually having a seizure and trippin' at the same time when I watch that video... it sure has lots of flashing lol.

Come down to Australia if you want, we'll build a gun 100 meters long in my driveway

Your editing/showmanship is good... But.. MORE POWAH NEEDED!

If you can get access to a "cheap" high speed camera like the Casio offerings that would give you some brilliant footage

OH man i haven't checked this in a day and you guys loaded me up with good options. Ok so i went to my local irrigation company today. My limit is around 150 until the show gets better. With that i'm going to do the following, if this is a good setup let me know. 4" chamber 1' long. 1 1/2 sprinkler valve which is 60 bucks by itself. Oh and he showed me the 3" hahahaha freaking crazy big and just looks beafy as hell ;) So 4" chamber to 1 1/2 valve to a 2" barrel around 3' long. If i pressure that to 100psi What kind of result will i be getting? Also if i did it all the same and had a 3" chamber 1' long will that make a difference?

I didn't know valves were so expensive. The 1" valve 16 bucks. after that they go up dramatically in price.

As soon as you guys could give me a good to go on the 4" chamber or 3" i will pick up the parts and start constructing.. 4"barrel parts i have to order but they do have the 3" in stock..

MOAR BARREL!

With a pneumatic try and get closer to a 1:1 (or so) chamber to barrel ratio - by volume.

So (pi*radius^2*length)Chamber= same for barrel.

With your setup it's easy. simply add a foot to the barrel.

Don't be afraid to have a big barrel, we don't judge.

While your at it, make the chamber 2 feet, and the barrel ~6 feet.

Remember, PVC has a relatively low ceiling for safe pressure usage. So if you make your gun bigger, you can always add less pressure to get similar results compared to a smaller gun with a shorter barrel shooting at a higher pressure.

Just something to think about!

You can pay 60 for the 1.5" sprinkler or 20 for a 1.5" piston valve... Just something else to think about.

Or you can drive to my house in Philadelphia and drop off a case of beer and take 10 gallon. also something to consider

I'd happily donate for a good cause like your show!

I'm so bad at math guys i won't lie hahaha...
So i want a 4-5' barrel maybe 6 x 2" round ;) and a 2' long chamber by 3" or 4"?

Thanks again guys and also i don't know if i will ever be able to impress you guys completely because of where i live i'm limited by what i can do. Police station 1 mile away or less hahahaha.. I'm working on going out to a friends air field but it's a hour away so maybe for season 3 we will move out with a bigger gun.

I might take you up on that offer Mobile,, one of these days. 8)

I'm looking into the new Nykon thats shoots 400fps it's around 600 i think. That will probably have to wait for season 3. If i ever make money from youtube that money will go for more cameras and bigger cannons. If we don't make money it's cool because we love doing the show... It will just take longer to get extra money for those things... Were just excited to get this new cannon up and running :D
