SCH-160 Steel pipe

What is the maximum PSI for SCH-160 steel piping?

This stuff can be found at mcmaster.com. They are VERY pricy.

I plan on building a high pressured, one pipe, burst disk cannon. It'll cost around $40 including the union. And would using 1/2" pipe be safe for 1000 PSI? What should I use for the burst disk to achieve 1000 PSI?

As long as the fitting are rated for the pressure the pipe should be fine. For the bust disc I'm not sure but you should check out hydraulic valves on

most are rated for at least 1500psi

just a note, it is safe to use unregulater co2 from a 20 oz in 1.5" steel pipe

For a burst disk, you should look into using aluminum sheet, maybe 1/8, 3/16 thickness. It should hold the pressure up to 1000 psi.

2" sch 40 steel pipe is rated to more than 1000 psi, I believe.
Don't wast your effort buying 1" steel pipe in that diameter.

I don't know about using metalic burstdisks.
My experience with aluminum cans seems to indicate that you'd have leakage around the krinkled edges... I'd try thick plastic sheeting first.
Maximize the pressure it takes to burst it by orienting the union in a way such that it doesn't have the knife edge pressing against the disk.
