That's around 2 ft/lbs for your airsoft example.

With my Monsoon example above, I can shoot well within a 6 inch circle at 150 yards. I think hitting a man sized target at 200 yards is a fair extrapolation, therefore my suggestion would be a roughly one gram projectile with a muzzle velocity in the 800-1000 fps range and around 1/4" diameter.

This produces around 6 ft/lbs on target - not inconsiderable, with a small solid projectile enough to kill a rabbit sized target.

If you had to fire something that was say, four 0.25g airsoft BBs jammed into a length of drinking straw type plastic, you could probably have an acceptable compromise in terms of safety provided you could ensure that there was a minimum range limit that was strictly adhered to, and adequate full face (and groin...) protection was worn at all times.

That's my two euro cents at least ;)

I'm aiming at 600 fps with 0.4 g bbs, witch is way out of the legal field limit, but of course if only used beyond 50 meters, nobody will complain the pain I believe.
Looks like maybe soon somewhere people are going to play airsoft skirmish with pcps :lol:

Looking at other real world examples, the M79 grenade launcher is generally regarded to be accurate against point targets up to 150 metres away shooting grenades at just 250 fps muzzle velocity.

Sectional density for the grenade though is 14.32g/cm<sup>2</sup>, compared to a 0.4g airsoft BB density of 1.41g/cm<sup>2</sup>, a full order of magnitude higher - meaning much better velocity retention, resulting in a flatter trajectory, and less likely to be influenced by environmental factors.

Also, I would imagine that a "point target" for a grenade launcher would be more 3 ton truck than individual soldier.
