A few of you might be wondering where I had disappeared to over the past week, I am in fact currently waiting to board a flight from Montreal back to Europe.

I am a Canadian citizen by birth but hitherto had never returned to my native land, this is my first visit in almost thirty years. All I can say is... F***!!!

LeMaudit - who has my eternal gratitude - was my gracious host and kindly showed me around all that is wonderful of capitalism at work, and it has shaken me to the core, literally at some points I had to choke back the tears.

I came here with what I thought were big dreams, and was dismayed to see that the lifestyle I was aspiring to is taken for granted here.

One of the points examined was the prospect of a suitable vehicle, I arrived thinking Landrover or bust, I want something medieval and Neanderthal and simple.

F*** Landrover. Seriously, f*** Europe. I cannot think of a single reason not to move here, and intend to do so as soon as possible.

North American spudders, I am slightly disappoint. You have so many resources easily at your disposal, I would have expected to see better work from more of you. But I don't want to criticize, I understand! Really I do. It's all very clear to me now.

I'm born and bred British and I hate the uk and can't stand living here and Canada has been somewhere I have considered moving to. Only my son keeping me here as he don't live with me

I was in Quebec mostly so can't speak for the rest of the country but the people seem so happy and are polite and courteous and friendly, it was quite an epiphany. Certainly miles ahead of th.e UK last time I visited.

There is lots of space unless you live in a metropolitan area where the neighbors are too close.

My yard is too small for most of my launchers. Fortunately, I road trip a few tines a year to play with the toys.

Jack, If you get in the neighborhood again, drop me a note.

If I will be located on the continent, road trips to the US will certainly be on the cards and I look forward to meeting many of you personally

For close to a decade now I've thought that a life goal of mine would be to live/work in Europe for at least a couple of years. A lot of it probably has to do with the fact that we're quite isolated down here and nearly every Kiwi wants to go overseas with Europe being the most popular destination. Are you disillusioned about Europe in general or just where your epoxy bat cave was?

I guess a lot of it depends on where you spent most of your time growing up.

The grass is always greener on the other side... except sometimes it is true

My own experience was leaving France at any cost, and my grand scheme was to try first Quebec (for the ease of speaking the same language), then Alberta (land of the low taxes), then Australia and/or New Zealand if Canada was not reaching my goals

But my first stop in Quebec was the good one... everything is perfect here, european culture flavor strongly teinted with French roots, but North American way of doing business, and overall happy, kind and polite people... all that compared to what I know of course. Everything is relative to your own standards.
