Ideas?

A little bit of background: I've always built some big and clumsy cannons and hate dragging them and all the other things I need to shoot (fuel sources, hand pumps, ram rods, etc), so for the past few weeks I've been spending spare time thinking of how to get a good amount of power and even some range to fit into a smaller/more compact build. And when I say more compact I'm talking pistol size to MP5K size or so.
The problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out what to make. I've started drawing out a coaxial design (something with a .5'' bore and 1.5''-2'' chamber diameter) but can't figure out how to power it or if I'm even heading in the right direction. I've been looking into advanced combustion cannons but they're all huge. I've been looking at coaxial style pneumatics but I'm not sure I can get the amount of power I'm looking for. I've even started to look at hybrids but I don't feel confident in my abilities to either obtain the necessary materials or build it.

Don't talk about magical powders on this forum :) Spudfiles is full of information on smaller sized cannons, check the Mini Cannon Showcase. My first spudgun was actually a pengun. And if you want lots of power in a small package, hybrids are the answer. They aren't too difficult to build if you do your research.

Until you require a trailer to haul your spud chucking creations around, you cannot truley say you have "built some clumsy cannons" lol

A small hybrid can be cheap and easy to make, and will provide a lot of power: http://www.spudfiles.com/hybrid-cannons/topic21655.html

Thanks very much! I've looked through the showcases and some other sites to get ideas and I feel ready to start designing :D
