Propane meter hose

The hose that runs from the torch head to the meter pipe keeps bursting if I leave the torch valve on for more than about 5 minutes. It's not really a problem if I turn off the torch between shots, but now and then I forget. My question is, what type of hose is recommended for this?

Thanks a bunch.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Well what type of hose is it?If its the clear kind, that doesnt handle pressure very well. The kind of hose that you should be using is double layerd fibre renforced also known as air compressor hose it can handle up to 10 bar pressure 150psi which is what you should use and its not that expensive to buy either.

Home Depot and Lowe's both have a great selection of tubing all of which is clearly labeled with pressure ratings. Almost any tubing will work just make sure it's rated to at least 90psi which is the pressure that propane liquifies at.

When you say "bursting" I would assume you mean the tube itself rupturing, not the hose slipping off the nozzle right? Just wanting to clarify.

I just cant imangine the tube rupturing... Ive used some tubing that is around 1/32" thick or so at around 60 PSI and it didnt rupture. Yes, as other posters have stated, simply buy thicker tubing. Dont need to go over-board with some service station hose or anything, Lowes and HD have braided hosing for cheap thatll work. How very odd...

Not true. At 73 degrees I measured the vapor pressure of a coleman 1 pound propane tank at 120 psi. The same day in 100 degrees it reached a vapor pressure of 140 psi. Just ask pcguy.

thats right (even though I don't really give a sh*t) if you want to get all anal about it propane pressure can reach well over 250psi at tempatures above 100 F.

In fact here is a chart for the anal among us:
